Re: Honda ALB2 investigation- call for a broken pump

I can try to persuade Andrew to donate the pump etc, although it could have still been in working order at the time of dismantling (the car was a non-runner as Tim had salvaged a few bits before he sold it, but he had confirmed that the ALB warning lamp had not been on when he last drove the car). ...

Re: 1994 216 Cabriolet with ALB Master Cylinder.

This mite help i sure someone more knowledgeable will be along . Here goes then! It does sound like a master cylinder problem rather than one with the failure-prone ALB system. The Honda ALB2 system has a 'low pressure' circuit, pressurised by your foot, and a 'high pressure' side pressurised by a ...

Re: How high is "High mileage" for 416 Honda engine?

Use a quality engine oil & filter every 6000 miles and generally keep every thing serviced and the engine goes on & on. One of the Rover Durability Engineers recommended an oil and filter change every 3,000 miles but while that would obviously be beneficial, seem a bit excessive for normal usage. P...

Nice history of car ownership and you're obviously a bit 'hands on' which helps with most cars :D

Re: How high is "High mileage" for 416 Honda engine?

That's nicely run in :cool No really, the Honda D-series is a very reliable engine so if it's got this far you're now into age related issues, such as aging seals. The ones which are often the first to go are the spark plug tube seals in the head causing oil to get down and start flooding the spark ...

BMIHT online images

I've only just come across this photographic resource - http://www.motorgraphs.com/

It's basically on online shop for British Motor Industry Heritage images and videos.

There are only a few of 'our' cars in there but there are many fantastic images :D

Re: What kind of alloys are they?

They were available from R3 launch only on the Vi and were simply known as "5 Spoke Sports Alloys". Internally they were known as "Linfords" apparently. The only other alloy available at launch was a "7 Spoke Luxury Alloy" on the 216SLi and that was known internally as "Sally". I will let John expl...

Re: Shock absorber or... ?

That's excellent news.

Dampers have a lot of work to do so a new set after 20 years is likely to be noticed :D

I'll see if I can find any reference to Orange springs but don't hold your breath... Alternatively, if anyone else with a Cabby wants to look under their wheel arches :wink3
