Re: Paint Code for Front Roof Assembly Rover 216

Mine has gone very matt and scratched over the last year and I'm going for gloss. I had toyed with the idea of doing the rear section of the roof at the same time but on a Tahiti car it wouldn't really show up. Has anybody done it on a lighter colour - white or silver? I think it would look good on...

R8 in Classic Car Weekly again. Twice!

This week's edition has a buyers guide for the Cabriolet and a running report on their 216 Coupe.

The 'potential faults to look for' in the cabby article are 'comprehensive' :blushing ...because we were consulted! :laughing2

Please post some photos of before, during and after your restoration. (You'll need to use Flickr or a similar photo-hosting site)

Or even better can we have this story as an article in a future edition of our Viking club magazine please?

Re: New member from Cornwall

Hi, Thanks for the advice. From what I have read on the internet my current front seatbelt buckles are of the mechanical pre-tensioner type. Am I right in thinking that these are a stand alone unit and have no actual electrical connection to the car? I have had a look on the Rimmer Bros website and...

Re: Newby looking for some rover goodness

I had a look through the fb page but couldnt see it, im probably looking at the wrong part though :headbanging Search for the “Rover R8 Enthusiast Page”. NB it’s a FB “group” rather than a “page”. Re: New member from Cornwall

:welcome Glad to have you around. The seatbelt buckle not latching may be as simple as a displaced spring inside. You can get the halves apart and get it back in place if you're careful but any doubt it's better to replace the whole buckle as you don't want in not latching or not releasing! Fobs are...

You'll probably be rhe first person to find out!

But with these being so rare wouldn't it be better keep this one standard and tune a less-rare car?

In the end it's your money and your choice :D

Description of R8 by Denis Chick, Rover PR Manager

The following description is included in an excellent interview with Denis Chick in the October 2018 edition of Practical classics When we launched the R8 200 Series in 1989, we had a car we could be absolutely confident about, probably for the first time ever. It was a car we needed to make no apol...

Re: 216 Gti dohc ALB system

That's really interesting John. It is certainly on advice from people here (possibly yourself, it was some time ago) that I reverted it to non ALB. It has been pointed out to me that maybe I should have told the insurance company though! I have to say I found it stopped pretty well on the standard ...

Re: 216 Gti dohc ALB system

There is a fundamental flaw with the Honda ALB system in that it does not have a start-up self-check that spins the pump to check if it is still operating correctly. Instead it relies on a pressure signal from the high-pressure accumulator to confirm that all is ok. This accumulator is very good at ...
