Re: '97 416 SLi ignition cut-out from puddle splash

There should be a plastic under tray that fits beneath the front crossmember that carries the radiator and the suspension tie rods; when in situ it also blocks off the space beneath the coil! or at least it does on my 414.

Re: Rover 420i cutting out when cold.

I would give it an Italian Tune Up; a regular shot of fuel injection cleaner and only fill up at a BP/SHELL/ESSO pump. Clogged injectors might not be the only issue you have, does the engine hunt on start up? or is it cutting out after 5 minutes say? Try opening the throttle slightly as you turn it ...

Re: R3 UK only?

The elephant in the room is crash testing surely?

that explains all the extra box sections in the R3, as opposed to just the fluted pressings in the R8?

Re: Diagnostic correct: NEED steering pump

Decent article discussing bearings in last month's P.C! should be posssible to identify the bearing by it's serial number and either source a replacement or a sealed race upgrade, the pump will need an oil seal too of course, to state the obvious.

Re: Front and Rear Speaker Diameters

Sad man with umpteen R8's just happens to have a couple of U/S front door speakers kicking around for immediate examination! :laughing2 As Dist has said the orifice dia is 6.5 inches; they have a three point flange fixing, where supposedly aftermarket replacements differ in my experience. The origin...

Re: R3 UK only?

My understanding is that Honda wasn't aware that BAe were negoiating to sell Rover to BMW and that BMW were equally in the dark regarding Honda's 20% stake in Rover. I read somewhere that Honda trippled the price of D16's once BMW took over and that I would assume is why Rover stopped using them. I ...

Re: R3 UK only?

That's a fascinating comparison of the floor pans; the Honda design looks more expensive, certainly to press, while possibly being easier to dip/spray coat?

Nope, just a mechanic familiar with the car and old fashioned fault finding using his brain. :D

Re: Flame Red 3 Door 216GTi Auction

Yes the SOHC is much nicer to cruise on the Mway and as I have half a plan to fit a DOHC and mate it to a wide ratio box in my Red GTi [health/energy permitting] I'm after a butchers at a DOHC torque/power curve: did Rover ever publish one? An alternative plan is to turn her into a hillclimb car, in...

Interesting to note that approx max torque is achieved at 3000RPM!

Do you have a chart for a T.C?

Re: Flame Red 3 Door 216GTi Auction

The suspension will be stiffer and it's got bigger anti roll bars.

A lot will depend on how it's been driven and looked after; it looks very clean under the bonnet.

There are 30 taxed on the road at the moment.

[I'm not sellling it by the way]
