I would probably run it on IAT unless it's a late model?

That is a long time to keep one car, I had to scrap my first one and buy a lot of other stuff, before realising how good these are!

Re: H reg Rover 416gsi front subframe wanted

My experience of talking to a Honda dealer parts dept regarding bits for an R8 is that they couldn't have been more unhelpful; wouldn't do anything without a Honda reg number.

Re: R8 electric window faults

Some late build R8's seem to have the window glass clips [ the clip's bolt to the window regulator] not securely glued to the glass, as in the blob of sealant is partly outside of the clip.

If unused the glass can stick/seize in it's runners.

Re: Did pre L-reg R8 are ready IR alarm

My 89 216gsi had what I assume was a dealer fit alarm immobiliser . It automatically shut the front windows & closed the sunroof! :clapping

Now scrapped :slapme

A very nice in fact concours Mk 1 MR2 went for £7.5k? on this new car show with Drew Pritchard & Paul Cowley the other day. P.C's C/D value is about 5! Must have been filmed before Corona struck though!

Re: Engine won't start

On my 414 the ECU died, while it was on it's way out it developed a flat spot at the bottom of the rev range; I got one of the last reconditioned ones that Rimmers had for a good price.

They didn't want the old one back either, so not really interested in the longevity of our cars. :mad

Re: My 1994 Rover 220 GSi

As you've marketed the car I deleted my content regarding price; the system wouldn't let me remove the post just the content.

Good luck with the sale Rover R8's have been undervalued to date, which hampers their preservation imo.

Re: 214 SLi Price 1991

The Rover Dealer in Beeston was selling [second hand] 214 SLi's for £7k in 1993. I hadn't thought about the cost of servicing before splashing out.... Anyway the car needed a 24,000 mile major service just after I bought it, that bleed me dry until I learnt not to turn up on a Saturday morning & pay...

Re: 214 SLi Price 1991

Rough ball park figure £10k? my 216GSI [now scrapped] I think that was a pre-production car, anyways first registered October 1989 cost £12k

This J registered 216GSI auto that I'm scrapping was about £18k! :sad

Re: Engine change phase 2 cat engine to phase 1 differences?

The heads, or rather the camshafts differ between cat & non cat twin cam D16's, that information is straight out of the Honda Engine Overhaul Manual. I think there is a power reduction caused by the catalyst itself. :)

Re: 216 16v se cabriolet

The early 1.4 K Series is a very under rated engine! I remember back in the day [1993], the Rover salesman claiming that the K Series was a better engine than the Honda!

Nice photos!
