Re: F/S White G Reg Auto Southampton

I'm willing to chip in 50 towards buying it on the basis that I get that back, or most of it back when the car is auctioned off?

F/S White G Reg Auto Southampton

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/123292298647 ... 1758.m4703

Would be a shame if this was lost it has no MOT and a water leak, probably the rad. Will need trailering/low loading.

Would it make a good club project car? :cool

Or are some of us bidding on it? :D

Re: 216 Cabriolet Roof hydraulics mounting brkt

My 216 cabriolet has required that the roof hydraulic ram mounting brackets be welded back on to the wheel arch. A few weeks ago the welding proved to be stronger than the bracket. The bracket on the offside has been ripped apart with the force from the hydraulic ram. :oops . Unfortunately this mou...

Re: 1990 416GSi

Another oddity I've noticed: despite this being a GSi, the rear brakes are drums. Shouldn't it have all round discs? Early GSi's certainly did, my G Reg had them. No loss without imo :D They can have some pretty weird failure modes until you get on top of em'! Drums provide a far better secondary b...

Re: It's back up for sale!

Perhaps it's suffering from sticking valves due to running on non detergent fuel? Mine was took a few thousand miles on BP/Shell/Esso fuel injection cleaner before the power came back, plus a sticky hydraulic tappet that was possibly cured with regular changes of synthetic oil. :rolleyes

Re: Rover 214 SEI 16V Guide price up and running?

Good clean examples will sell, either on Ebay or Car & Classic for example if you're happy to wait for a buyer. They don’t sell on eBay, you just get dreamers and time wasters. I've always turned up and paid when I've been the winning bidder, even when the seller has disguised the rust in the pictu...

Re: Rover 214 SEI 16V Guide price up and running?

Good clean examples will sell, either on Ebay or Car & Classic for example if you're happy to wait for a buyer. A SEI with a full leather interior is a rarity and all else being equal will attract a premium. The one being discussed earlier has turned up on Ebay numerous times which imo has helped to...

Re: Use of thread locking compound (Loctite?) on suspension bolts

My 96 model has blue painted dots on the Macpherson strut top bearing plate studs and yellow ones on the gearbox mounting bolts. Also yellow dots on some 10mm bracket bolts, so it's not a colour coded torque setting! Non of my other cars have this by the way. Perhaps it's referencing different locti...

Re: Sunroof getting slow (R8 Tourer)

Buy a can of '3 In One' White Lithium Grease from some where like B&Q or Euro Car Parts. Open the roof and spray the tracks, then tilt it up and spray the tilt mechanism. Make sure the rubber seal around the glass is clean and free from grease, do not put silicone grease on it or it will swell and s...
