Tidy looking 420i (HHR) saloon

P306TEG. Quite unusual to see a non-GSi 420 still surviving in nice condition! And IMHO, Kingfisher Blue has to be one of the best colours available on the HHR.

Re: Rover r8 Speedometer shakes 15-40mph

You are in the right ball park, Johnny, although the drum inside the speedo is made of aluminium and the motion is caused by eddy currents. You can probably test the speedometer by disconnecting the cable at the gearbox end and using an electric drill (in reverse motion) to drive the cable. If that ...

We do have other members in Greece, so you are not completely alone out there with a Rover :)

And one of them has a very large stock of new Rover spare parts, which could be useful if you need anything.

The museum have advised us that as a club we will be entitled to a limited number of free tickets for this event :clapping (This will be a pass giving you and your classic BL/Rover etc car plus two people entry to the show and museum: it would not be valid for anybody arriving in a non-classic BL/Ro...

Re: Rover 1.6 cvt Tourer.....chattery drive plate

Have you tried putting the Rover part number into https://www.mgroverpartfinder.com/?

That will tell you if any of the Xpart dealers still have any stock: possibly AE Wilcox near Bristol or Damen + Kroes in Holland.

Re: Front wipers - no water

Never assume that a new part is in working order :wink3 So, the switch is operated and 12V appears at the motor plug. Are the front and rear plugs exactly the same? If so, swap them around then see if the front one works and the rear one doesn't. That will prove the circuit. If there still seems to ...

Re: North East & Yorkshire Area Group Meeting Tuesday 28th May.

How many of you have booked in for Preston Park on 29/30 June?

Although the deadline to get your name in the show programme is tomorrow (24th May), late bookings will still be accepted up until 21st June.

A very nice example in Tahiti Blue for just £500: perhaps one to mothball for a few more years and then put on show :)

Re: Engine won't start

According to my Haynes manual for the Rover 25 (I can't say if there are any major differences between the earlier engines in the 214 and the later ones in the 25, as far as timing is concerned): All marks on the camshaft pulleys should sit in a horizontal line with each other and the 'Exhaust' mark...

Re: Rover 220GSI MOT fail

It happened to my 220T many years ago, Jonny. It wasn't rot, just metal fatigue (probably caused by my car spending its first 45,000 miles living in Cornwall where even the 'A' roads are like the country lanes we have up here in the Midlands!) I got a very skilled welder to do the repair: from what ...
