Re: Bubble turbo

This project is kicking me in the balls. Keep buying stuff and none of it fits. Stuff like turbo fittings where stuff is either m12 x 1.25 instead of 7/16" UNF etc etc etc. Got the engine loaded up, transported to mine and then fitted the gearbox. Wait that sounded awfully easy eh? Well it wasnt. My...

Re: Bubble turbo

Did more engine prep this weekend. Fitted the alloy 620Ti sump instead of teh 800 pressed steel sump. The alloy one is better for lower cars, and my steel sump was a bit bashed and rusty. Then did the core plugs. Need'nt have bothered as they were totally fine. Fitted new oil pump gasket. Used a gen...

Re: Bubble turbo

Before i unloaded the car off the trailer i filled it with Dinitrol rust killer and cavity wax stuff. Used two whole tins and did pretty much everything from the front to the rear, including engine bay, chassis rails, doors, sunroof area and tailgate. Messy but satisfying. https://i.imgur.com/ufriGA...

Yippee! Got the bubble home from the bodyshop. Looks resplendent in its new coat of Hawaiian blue. https://i.imgur.com/j0gA95d.jpg https://i.imgur.com/6HIuOaV.jpg https://i.imgur.com/4oHOKc1.jpg The first thing to do was unload all of the parts inside. The bodyshop had stripped the underside off to ...

Re: 420GSI tourer mini restoration

Went to the Milton Keynes British Leyland car show today. I was kind of expecting a damp squib because of the covid lockdown, but happily there were plenty of cars on show and the rain stayed away. We even had some sun at times. Photos of randomness. Forgot to take that many. https://i.imgur.com/yqO...

Re: Bubble turbo

More progress shots revived today. Love that colour now. Plus Mike tells me it is Hawaiian Blue, not Kingfisher as i had originally thought. https://i.imgur.com/T10hi71.jpg https://i.imgur.com/0UeR4zf.jpg https://i.imgur.com/jKe77bf.jpg https://i.imgur.com/TeGilLq.jpg https://i.imgur.com/IZqrcXv.jpg

Getting close to being painted now! https://i.imgur.com/BOVDewk.jpg https://i.imgur.com/8gRwdp0.jpg In other news, i have managed to get hold of some T16 stainless steel coolant pipes. These were really common a few years a go, but are getting harder to find. No one makes them anymore, and even seco...

Re: Bubble turbo

Roland sounds like a man the Club should get friendly with! Yeah im sure he is. He advertises on ebay. He also makes repair panels for the tailgate hinges. Now that's something my 214 is in need of! Do you have a link/eBay username, or other contact details please? This is him on eBay https://www.e...
