Re: Removing speedo drive from PG1 box

Man alive what a mission. Couldn’t get into a decent position from above. Had to Jack the car up and get some grips on it to turn it and break the seal. Loads of wd40 and wiggling until it started to loosen off. Got it eventually. Refitted the cable and using a drill speedo seems to work. Fingers cr...

Once you have removed that little bolt it is super tight and I thought the same as you, no way this comes out. But it does. Just needs persuasion :D
Cheers Vinny. I was wondering how much brute force to use, no I know a lot!!

Removing speedo drive from PG1 box

Dear wise folks I have a t16 turbo with a pg1 and a cable drive speedo. When i bought the car, the gearbox end of the speedo cable was just dangling down the back of the engine. Today i undid the m6 bolt holding the little metal tab that holds the drive into the box, so that i could reunite it with ...

Were 420 turbos built to order and what exactly does that mean?

I was reading this article here about cool fast cars that are sort of forgotten about including 420 turbo. https://www.hagerty.co.uk/articles/vanishing-point-the-fast-family-cars-disappearing-from-britains-roads-how-many-are-left/ It says they were built to order. I was wondering if that’s true and ...

Re: Recommended Paint/Bodyshop

Try MPR, Midland Performance and Retro. Ask for Mike. He has done my r8 tourer, my 200 bubble and 2 SD1's for me. They also did a maestro show car and Mike has a montego and an ambassador so they know BL stuff. Based in Bridgnorth.

#6 but in fairness they both work. The difference comes when the exhaust cam cover doesn't have the insert for the rubber one you use the plate.
Ahhhh thanks, that makes sense

Re: 216 R SE 1998 cabrio

Hi and welcome. Re bushing the selector definitely a great idea. No idea on lowering. Have you seen the video series on youtube with Matt recommissioning a cabriolet?

This is his latest vid uploaded today

Thin black gasket sheets under t-series cam covers

Dear wise educated folk. Im confused about what gaskets there should be on the rover t-series cam covers. Should there be thin black sheet gaskets under both of the plastic cam covers? and rubber seals that fit in channels under the plastic covers? On the Rimmer brothers catalogue image, it shows tw...

Re: Bubble turbo

I feel like I've gone back 10 years reading through this thread and seeing a bubble T16 conversion - it was a very popular conversion back then. Its looking very good, it cant be far off from finished? It’s got a fair way to go. Stuff like wiring is the main headache. All the rest is easy mechanica...

Re: Bubble turbo

Had a couple of hours so i played around with the radiator and intercooling mountings again. The car originally would have two fans ahead of the radiator and a little intercooler above the radiator. I'm fitting the larger intercooler ahead of the radiator and there is no room for the fans in front, ...

Re: Bubble turbo

Finally sorted my drain line from the turbo to the sump. This should have been a five minute job, where i simply bolt in the original stainless steel corrugated pipe. However, annoyingly, the pipe wouldnt fit my new turbo. The car originally had a t25 turbo. Ive fitted the larger t28. T28 turbos com...
