Re: Steering suddenly went extremely light.

Honda steering racks on 827s are prone to this - and as an early 216, it will have a Honda engine and Honda steering rack

Re: Jump Starting

I am looking at possibly getting this jump starter from Halfords. https://www.halfords.com/workshop-tools/garage-equipment/battery-chargers-jump-starters/gb40-1000a-noco-jump-starter As I may well need it again in the future. Has anyone else used one of these? I have a generic equivalent of that, b...

Re: Gearbox Rover 214 & 216 compatibility?

Given the info above, I personally would go for it. Rovers all seem to be under geared and I've done similar swaps myself in the past - chiefly fitting 620 diesel boxes onto 820 petrol engines, dropping revs in 4th and 5th by about 500rpm at motorway speeds. It made my 820 Sterling a lot more refine...

Re: New mohair hood for my 214i mk2 cabby

When I lived in Spain, I bought LHD cars in the UK rather than locally - much better value. I wish I still had the amazing 1994 414 SLI with full leather and supercold aircon

Is there an electronic igniter amplifier module on the distributor?
If I remember correctly, the answer with the Honda engines is "yes"

Re: Coupe air con - help please

If you can't get original parts, you may be able to make use of some generic/universal parts. A useful company for DIY car stuff is Car Builder Solutions, who are aimed at the kit car market, but have a million and one of those "If only I could get a......" type parts. Their online catalogue is pret...

Did you fit a new rotor arm when you changed the distributor cap?

Re: FS Early 220 GTI in Birmingham

I love the alloy cam covers and inlet manifold on the M series. Do all M series have the water pump driven by the cam belt or do some drive it off the back of the PAS pump like the T series?

Whatever the case, that could be a lovely looking car with very little effort
