I work at Etihad Airways in Abu Dhabi, doing ground training for cadet pilots. Not the most reliable profession - with the (approximate) 7 year cycle of recession and redundancy :)

Reasonably safe at the moment...I think

That's what prompted my embarrassing display of amnesia. In my defence, I'm slightly out of the loop after a decade in the Middle East (still stuck here and missing Rovers)

The description says Honda engine but surely a 1996 manual is a K-series

Thanks for that. I know what I'll be doing on my wife's cabrio when I finally get out of Abu Dhabi back to the UK

Re: H reg Rover 416gsi front subframe wanted

Is the rust issue peculiar to the Honda powered models or does it afflict all R8s?

I agree with the previous post - that sounds to me like a break in the wiring between the A pillar and the door

Did this version have Mowtronic engine management?

It's a cheap way to get into classic mowtoring, at grass roots level, especially if you weed out the ones that are past their hayday.

I assume that by "Landrover master cylinder" you mean Freelander 1?

I'd agree with him - apart from the badly designed inlet manifold gasket.

After the K got stretched to 1.6 and 1.8 they weren't a patch on the originals

Re: How many of our cars will survive?

I would be interested to know how many MGC and MGC GT remain usable. There were only 9000 built between 1967 and 1969 and for many years they were deeply unloved. I've had mine for over half of its life (and mine :) ) and used it for half that time, on and off.
