Re: Is the alternator gone?

Thank you for all your reactions. :clapping Hence I'll stick to a 65A one. I've found a good used alternator with 6 months guarantee in France on a scrappers website called Opisto, where I'd already found a gearbox a year ago from a 1997 216 and I was very pleased with their offer. This time it's no...

Re: Is the alternator gone?

Running should be 14.4v I know. Hence what may be my first port of call @RoverRevival? :S A new alternator? Only brushes? New voltage regulator? :S EDIT : in that case which alternator should fit in my 1994 214i cabby? The present one is 65A only. Could a 75A be fitted? As I'm lost among all the re...

Is the alternator gone?

So I've plug in my smartphone in the cabby thanks to the 3-pin cable going to the MEMS 1.6 ECU. Mems Diags looks great and rather comprehensive. https://content.invisioncic.com/m304542/monthly_2020_11/large.304587430_Capturedcrande2020-11-2214-33-08.png.471842c6eaabed0a8baa9811408a21d0.png Even some...

Rear washer motor, assuming yours is the cabriolet it won’t have a rear screen wash.
Thank you @RoverRevival. Now I can go to bed a little less ignoramus! :D

What's the use of that black & yellow plug?

It looks unused & going nowhere, linked to the same bunch of wires as the one going to the screen washer tank. https://content.invisioncic.com/m304542/monthly_2020_11/small.138409151_20201122_152329-12.jpg.cdcc0bc6afbc37a4dd5988aa2c0fd455.jpg https://content.invisioncic.com/m304542/monthly_2020_11/s...

Re: Is there any short way between the engine bay & the driver?

Here we are. At last I've got the last bit of the cable from USB to USB OTG. And I've found a direct way to link the engine bay & the cabin. But that small grommet inside is very deceiving because once taken off there's no actual hole behind and I was going nowhere. Then I've taken off the larger gr...

Re: Is there any short way between the engine bay & the driver?

I've just had a close look around the driver's pedals and on the other side in the engine bay. I've seen 3 holes on the left (N/S, driver's side in my LHD cabby) from the upper one to the lower one: - the upper one for the clutch cable (approx. same level as the throttle cable on the right) - a larg...

Re: Is there any short way between the engine bay & the driver?

Thanks a lot to you both. I think that I've already used the first grommet you're talking about Johnny but if I'm not mistaken it's on the wrong side of the car, passenger's side for us and driver's for you, to pass my manual starter wire (my cabby is fuelled by full E85 and I need a manual starter ...

Is there any short way between the engine bay & the driver?

As I've just received my 3 pins diagnostic cable from James Portman of https://rovermems.com/# (but still waiting for an USB female - USB3 male converter), I would like to learn a short way from the bay to the driver seat in my LHD 214 mk2 cabby. It looks there might be enough room for a supplementa...

Re: Strange devices (for me at least...)

Moreover all my laptops are working under Linux Ubuntu and it's unlikely that any software was written for anything but MS Windows or maybe Apple. Don't let that stop you! Go here: https://www.winehq.org I use the Mac version to run the MEMSGauge Windows executable. Thank you but I've experienced i...

Re: Strange devices (for me at least...)

At present pscan in my case have use only with my R3. I still have no use of it for my R600. However in your case usage could be much, much greater, since pscan have R25, cabrio and R75. Pscan can talk to many ecus from your cars, look on the list. However, it is your choice, I am just telling what...

Re: Strange devices (for me at least...)

Just a note that pscan works under Linux, MacOS and Windows. Then buddie you've made me flabbergasted! :o Gobsmacked that something here may work with Linux. Thus I'll have a look on that pscan you're praising so much. I'm not that stubborn... :tongue Only rock in my shoe: far from being free (ever...

Re: Strange devices (for me at least...)

As said above green plug is for alatm (5AS in your case). Same plug goes to yellow (ECU) ang green (alarm). connectors. However you need to have software able to speak with it what pscan should be (or T4 but that is another story). I do not know any freeware software able to speak with alarm. Use f...
