Re: Thinking tyres and tools

As a rule, go for the best tyres you afford, mid range or above. As I read once, it doesn’t matter if you drive a Mini or a Ferrari, the tyres are the only part of the car that’s in contract with the road. As for Tools, I’m a big fan of Draper products. I wouldn’t be without my full size socket set ...

Hmmm. If it's never been registered, how has it managed to do over 3,000 miles?!
Probably a demonstrator.

Re: R8 digital clock replacement

I’ve had clock problems on R8s I’ve had in the past - 99 times out 100 it will be the bulb, a nice easy fix.
One time the clock actually went on/off when I went over bumps in the road, and I ended up replacing that one.

If you can see the digits close up, but it’s just not lit up, it’s the bulb.

I’m guessing you mean pic 2, but in pic 1 it looks like a Ford Sierra top left :D

Re: 214 Distributor Identity

Thanks guys. I’ve decided to get a distributor cap and rotor arm for the spares pile or box in the boot, and wanted to make sure I was ordering the right bits. In my old SEi days in the early 2000s I remember having to swap the rotor arm and dizzy cap a couple of times so probably worth having aroun...

214 Distributor Identity

Afternoon all. Probably a daft question - how do I identity what make/type of distributor is fitted to my 214 SEi?
Have I imagined there are two possible different types? :D

Re: Indicator steering auto off

I’ve had this before. Replace the stalk assembly. Means taking the steering wheel off. Nice easy fix.

Re: Boot problems

Sounds like a faulty boot latch - very common problem. Cheap on eBay and easy to swap.

Re: Windscreen wiper not stopping

Is that the brown relay that fits behind the centre console I have already replaced this about 18 months ago due to starting problems and it’s been fine since or is it a different one? Thanks Beverley No it’s a different one. If anyone can help identify the right one and where it is, I’m sure to ha...

That’s good. My favourite bit of an R8 is the sunroof. I couldn’t be without mine.

Re: Looking for a rover 216 rear windscreen

I had a similar problem a few years ago - tailgate glass smashed by vandals. Got a hold of a spare tailgate (or I should say I advised the body shop where it was) and they got it and fitted the glass into mine. All via the insurance I hasten to add, but Direct Line don’t penalise drivers for vandali...

It is indeed Sheffield, thought it was. Just checked https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vehicle_r ... prov=sfti1 under the “pre-2001 codes” heading.
