sup guys little update. Have driven the car now over 200 miles put some magnatec in it and it seems to be running great - still noticably less power in second but i reckon thats just the engine/ecu so need to tune it still.

Can still do the ROM tune data swap if you're interested. It's reversible if it doesn't solve the problem... All set up with EPROM programmer, eraser, a few spare EPROMs, etc.

hey Johnny216 thanks and we could possibly arrange it sometime but i have been really thinking of putting a b18c engine into it. Is this kind of thing easy to do, have you any experience with it, any advice? as i understand it i can use same engine mounts and it doesnt require any fabrication and the engine is basically set up the same way cam belt same side etc. Has anyone on this forum done a b series swap into an r8?

Happy to do the tune map swap. For the B series swap i think you have to buy custom mounts. There are D16 to B series engine mount conversion kits for the CRX. They're polyurethane so I expect you'll get more engine vibration.

A B18C4 I think is the biggest one you can fit and will get you 200bhp. You find them in late 1990s Honda Civic Aerodecks (amongst others). The loom, injectors, fuel pump, ECU etc. all have to change. Quite a big job.

Talk to the banger racers or CRX modders to find out the details - that's all I know.

nice on Johnny maybe we can sort that out for sometime soon? PM me? With regards to the b18c swap - so the d16a8 is running fine at the moment (maybe a slight loss of power compared to the a9 but not 100% sure but theres some slight rattling from the passenger side of engine bay when over 4k rpm) my plan is to change out the oem header and air intake and see if that nudges up the power a bit - maybe should wait for the tune until after then Johnny? So my plan is to eventually swap the d16 into my 1971 british leyland mini clubman once i swap a b18 into the rover. As you said its a big job and I have been quoted a lot for the work not including the engine swap which i have been able to find for 2k cheapest, thats a b18c6 the ukdm type r as opposed to the b18c4 which is not type r and about 40hp less. So I think for the moment I will keep (and clean up) the d16 whilst I save up a bit more for the b series swap.
