have done a bit moreresearch so the eprom is something you socket to the ecu? My ecu is obd1 or obd0? If its obd0 do you have to convert it to obd1 to be able to tune the engine?

alright guys so heres a picture of the new engine installed. I have driven it a bit, mechanic said not to try to do high revs etc until after around 500 miles as engine has probably been sitting for a while. When driving its really noticeable that theres a loss of power in second gear. For example: with the old engine if i am coming to traffic lights and i shift down into second before stopping the engine revs and makes a nice sound and you could feel the power, but with this new engine, second gear (even if im going from 1st to second) has hardly any power i have to put my foot completely to the floor to get any acceleration at all. Also after about 30mins of driving (not revving hard not going fast) i could smell a slight smell of burning rubber, i pulled over and looked fine under the bonnet but was very hot so i let it cool off for around 10mins before driving back home. I will tell the garage about this tomorrow but was wondering if anyone here had any ideas? https://postimg.org/image/ghka14s6t/

and just to add some context paid over £1000 for this engine to be fitted not including the £200 for the actual engine itself (never replaced an engine or to be honest had a garage do as big a job so i didnt know how much to expect) i was expecting around 500 i would have thought for this price it would include refurbishing the engine and actually taking it apart and cleaning it... What do you guys think? Did they 'see me coming'?

apparently they replaced the clutch so could that have something to do with the second gear problem?

i got your replacement sat here for £50 :wink3

a full engine rebuild and fit at a garage would cost you circa £1000, if they did that.

yeah it was a garage and it was a refit BUT NO REBUILD they just dumped the new engine in. should i ask for some of the money back i am still waiting to collect an invoice i think the parts were around £300 ish so even if they did 20 hours work at£50 an hour (which is at least double what it should be) then thats still not as much as i paid and it defo did not take 20 hours of work, maybe 7-10 maximum. What should i do????
