Thatchem alarm help

#1 Post by pkronic » Wed Feb 28, 2018 1:52 pm

OK so I have my eyes fob thatchem alarm and speedo all from a 216 now they are both r8s

Will my 214 already have the wires for the alarm or do I need to go and take them off the 216?

It might not be that simple;
Did the 216 donor have the Honda engine?
What year was the 214 made?

All the later R8 models come with the 5AS remote Alarm imobiliser system tied to the MEMS ECU. This needs to be bypassed to wire in your aftermarket system.
I think any pre 94 R8 only had a IR Honda system fitted as an option, it has less function than the later 5AS SCU. (Not sure how much wiring)
Im not 100% Sure of the dates but i hope this helps :wink3
My Rovers to date:
1994 Rover 220GSI in Tahiti blue (On the road)
2002 MG ZR 105 in Solar red (On loan)
1995 214i (On SORN)
