216 Cabriolet passenger windscreen wiper failed

#1 Post by rbosworth2016 » Sat Dec 07, 2019 10:17 am

The passenger side windscreen wiper on my 216 Cabriolet has failed. It does not move when the wiper motor runs (but the driver side works OK). I can move the passenger wiper easily by hand. When I do this the nut clamping it to the drive shaft does not move. I suspect the splines locking the wiper to the shaft must be smoothed flat. Any ideas what bits I might need to repair this.

Thanks

Richard

First move would be to take the arm off, clean out any debris and reassemble.
If that failed, then a new arm would be simplest - if you can find one!

It's unlikely that the spindle is worn, since that is steel, and the arm is die cast alloy.

You have enough spares to build a spare car. :laughing2
The 25X (2001 ROVER 25 1.4 Impression S, fate TBD)
The CX8 (1997 ROVER Cabriolet 1.6 K-Series, Resto Project)
The ASTRA-DX (2012 VAUXHALL ASTRA 1.7CDTi, Daily Eco Driver)
