216 Cabby Reversing Lights not working

#1 Post by mree145 » Wed Feb 18, 2009 3:21 pm

I have recently aquired a 97 216 Cabby but the Reversing lights don't appear to be coming on, fuse and bulbs replaced but no difference made, I have read that it could be the switch on the Gearbox, where is this located and how do i get to it?

any help would be appriciated.

Hi
The reversing lamp circuit is controlled by a plunger-type switch that is screwed into the top of the gearbox casing.
to test the switch, disconnect and test with muiltimeter
good look

Hi, the switch is fitted on the top of the gearbox directly under the distributer. It is easier to see if you remove the air filter intake pipe. Unclip the filter body as if your going to look at the filter and the pipe should move with it and you shoud be able to see the switch.

There's none on ebay but you could try breakeryard.com they have found a few things for me and although not new they usually have a guarantee, worth a try at least. You can also try www.vikingautodismantlers.co.uk they are local to me but also nationwide delivery.
