AIR FILTER UPGRADE

#1 Post by ukbiker1000 » Wed May 31, 2017 12:46 pm

Hi All

I have searched everywhere and can not find a supplier who can sell K&N filter for my car. Rover 416 si auto,, Honda engine.
Suppliers ask for my reg number then sending me filters for other car, so it does not fit.
Normal filter easy to find from my local spare parts sellers.

ANYONE Help on where I can buy a K&N filter?
Just fed up of being sent wrong filter 4 times.

Thanks

Is it a panel filter you are after or a cone filter 57i kit?

Would help if you told us whether it's the "wedge" R8 car (1989 to 1995 early "N" re.) or the later smooth-curved saloon similar to the Honda Civics at the time (1996 late N or after).

I know the part code for the first type of 416 but I'd have to look up the type for the second type of car.

Dist has already found the correct ones, but I can put my two penneth's worth in if I know what I'm looking for.

If I got one wrong I bow down, not 100% on my Honda parts.

I have the rover 400 ------body shape is same as the mg zs and rover 45.
1.6 auto
Registered 1999
5 door hatch, looks just like civics.( easiest to describe is the Honda civic 5 door hatch back (1.8 Vti). I read online body and most parts are same.
I would put photo here but don't know how to upload it here.
Mine has Honda engine with auto gearbox.
From the the pictures above. I think it is the first one.
I was looking to panel filter only,, as I was having tough time getting it. I would not even dream of trying find the other type (57I kit). But I know the 57I kit means airbox filter removal and replacing it with cone shape type. Would love to but I am not sure where I can buy correct one. Plus it's too complex to find a way to get cold air feed to it.

Photos can be misleading. But if I had to guess it looks like top one. As the second one looks too narrow.
Please I need link for ordering.
Thanks

You do need to make sure it is for the auto as only the 416 auto HH/R used the Honda engine. The 416 manual will be the K series engine and therefore a different air box.

Indeed.

It'll be this one:

https://www.knfilters.co.uk/search/prod ... od=33-2647

K&N part code 33-2647

Clicking on the applications list confirms it fits all the 416 auto cars from 96 to 99.

Even though the engine changed from a Honda D16Y3 to a D16B2 sometime in 1997, they must not have changed the air box.

Google "K&N 33-2647" to find the best price - but K&N's own price (link above) at a shade over £40 seems reasonable.

You could also try Demon Tweeks, it's where I got a K&N filter for mine. They have it in stock and listed at £40.79 inc VAT, so a similar price to that quoted by Jonny 216GSi

It's K&N part code 33-2647 as per this link:

https://www.knfilters.co.uk/search/prod ... od=33-2647

The K&N applications list shows its for all 416 autos from '96 to '99 according to this link:

https://www.knfilters.co.uk/search/appl ... od=33-2647

The photo on Demon Tweaks appears to be the same as the one K&N are showing. And you say this doesn't fit your car?

Not sure what the problem is now :S
