#1 Post by davemc87 » Wed Mar 27, 2019 11:18 am

Hi everyone. has anybody ever successfully took an auto box out of one 416 and put it on what was a manual car?
is it reasonably straight forward?
just weighing some options up.
cheers
dave.

Easier just to buy an auto surely?

There are a few about; it's a proper slush box by the way! :D

But a 216 auto and swap the engine for the twin cam one, if that's what you want. Would be easier.

Various parts have to swap with the engine - PS pump, ECU, wiring loom, etc. but you'll have a twin-cam donor car to take all those parts off.

Pretty pointless though - a twin cam auto won't be any faster than a single cam auto. Engine parts are easier to find for the single cam, IMHO.

you're forgetting the dash wiring for the binnacle to have the PRND321

and an extensive list of other items

So actually what you need is a twin cam Honda auto car, i.e. a cabriolet, as a donor, and the "upgrade car" which should be a single-cam auto, and it get's pretty much everything from the cabriolet engine bay, main loom and instruments.

Still pretty pointless though.
