2L turbo engine swap

#1 Post by Jamesridgway1994 » Tue May 28, 2019 7:58 pm

I have a r8 1996 416 sli tourer and the plan has always been to put the 220 turbo engine in,
Am I right in thinking it relatively a easy swap using mostly the same parts from what iv heard or is it a case where its better to source a car and swap whole sub frame?
Any ideas from anyone who's done something similar would be great in getting the ball rolling!

oh, the list is long but yes, it's better to have a donor car.

You will also need to update your suspension to handle the extra weight of the t-series engine.
You'll need exhaust as well and brakes if you ever want to stop.

Car will be on some coilovers by then, would the brakes from the 220 not fit?

Ideally you want a donor, preferably wrecked, or rotten. I once used a rotten 420 gsi turbo it was 2010 and i wish i hadnt even now :unsure

the 2.0 brakes are only 262mm still and are woeful
