#1 Post by stuartsports05051985 » Tue Aug 09, 2016 9:15 pm

It's easier to lever out when they're broken but wouldn't want to try and get a good one out without removing the bumper. They clip in and it's easy to break the clips. I found a little bit of butter/grease helped when fitting the new one.
I think Rimmers have some red ones but not sure. If not it make have to be a breakers yard.

Its easier and cheaper to replace the entire rear bumper :slapme

Which is what i would do, then attempt to get the strip back out because if you have never done it before, you will probably break the strip or the bumper more.

As an aside I personally always preferred the silver insert to the red.

If you find a black insert, give me a shout though :laughing2

If you find an insert in the wrong colour you can simply cover it with red insulation tape.

X-part have stocks of the claret bumper strip. It's part code is DQR10049COD and Rimmer Brothers will sell you one for £32 and change. Plus the extortionate shipping fees, of course.

Did mine with red gaffer tape a year ago, side trims have stayed red but both bumpers are now quite faded. I'll redo them with electrical tape and see how that lasts. Buying replacement inserts isn't really an option, they don't seem to exist for the saloon rear bumper.

I'm sure I've got some new & used front bumper inserts in red.
