Wooden insert in R8 dashboard - passenger side - tips on removal

#1 Post by BertieTR7 » Sun Jan 28, 2018 1:54 am

The clock in my Coupe looks like it is working, but the bulb in the back has blown, so you can’t seem the digits!

How do I remove the wooden insert in the dashboard to get access to the clock please?

Large flat screw driver down the left hand side and bring it forward. Do not bend it to the right it will snap.

As soon as you have prized it forward enough to get your fingers in you can then pull against the metal springs.

Remember in some cases these things haven’t moved for 20 years but it’s only wood and cardboard.

I removed one yesterday - nice and easy if you’re gentle with it. The clock bulb just twists out of the back of the clock.
