They're 15 " diameter wheels so exactly the same as the GTi, it's surprising if the Rover badge fitted a Honda wheel?

Perhaps they were a dealer special option, if not where have the centres come from [if the wheels are Honda].

I have a odd one with a good tyre on the 414, I will leave it on and let people judge for themselves at Gaydon in July.
Can you pop a picture up? I'm interested in seeing these - and I could do a pattern match on the Ebay listings for you. I'm better than Google Image search, you know :laughing2

I'll have a go in a bit. I'm preoccupied by the insurance issue at the moment.

Also measure the PCD (distance between the centre of two diagonally opposite bolt holes divided by 2). It is just possible you might have a maestro/montego wheel which would be 3.75 inches (about 95mm) . the rover wheels are 100mm. They are not interchangeable!

This one is, because it's on the car!

As I have said it is exactly the same as the five spoke GTi alloy, except for a differing wheel centre.

Having just looked at a few middle-aged Civics on eBay, I suspect you may have a Honda wheel there.

Because the five-door 1995-2000 Civic was essentially the same car as a Rover 400 HH/R and was built in Swindon, I wouldn't mind betting that the alloy wheels would have all been sourced from the same supplier.
They would produce a range of wheels in different styles, the centre cap would be a standard moulding with different faces for Honda and Rover (just as the same moulding was used for the MG caps of that period).

The jury will decide at Gaydon on Sunday :wink3

Now back to Paul's original post, the only wheels you can use to pass a Rover anorak test will be the 14-inch lattice spoke 416 GTi wheels (available as an option when your car was new)
But as somebody else has already said, it is your car and you need to do what looks right to you.

The seven-spoke 'SEi' alloys will give the car a sporty look, but other more restrained options you could consider are the 'Coronet' wheels fitted to some 25s and 45s and the flat-looking wheels that were fitted to the 420 GSi Executive in 1992-3.

I will add photos of both if I can find some before anybody else does

Thanks for the info 220 GSi - the wheels I fancy putting on the 416 are the later Octet alloys from the 25.

I'm not sure SEi 7 spokes would look right, and Lattice wheels will be hard to clean!

Looking forward to seeing the 420 GSi Executive alloys though... :-)

They do look a little like 14" wheel trims.

Those centre caps and stud holes are just like mine, moulded in with five spokes and scallops of the GTi alloy!

Back to Teddy Bear's query for a moment, the general consensus at the Gaydon show was that they are probably rare(ish) Roversport wheels! :cool

Having seen them myself, they are definitely not Honda Civic wheels. Ironically I saw a Rover 25 today that had been fitted with the five-spoke Civic wheels. There were no centre caps fitted and the holes definitely look bigger than the holes in Rover wheels.
