Cabriolet rear ARB

#1 Post by Kriss707 » Mon Aug 28, 2017 6:07 pm

Hi All,
I was under the rear of my 98 Cabby looking to replace the rear box. I have a 93 Cabby I use for spares, I noticed the 93 has a Rear Anti-Rollbar where the 98 doesn't. Should the 98 have one or has a previous owner removed it ?
They are both 1.6 variants the 93 is Honda powered & the 98 is K- series.
Any info greatfully received, thanks
Chris

Not all of them came with one. 98 model would have been part of the cost cutter era so probably never had one.

A good clue would be whether the lower transverse arms have been drilled for attachment of the ARB drop links. Rover didn't waste money doing this job on non-ARB cars.

they are still drilled and tapped, but usually a fair helping of rust proofing near by. So with a thread tapping tool to clean the lines, away you go.

Thanks all,

All the relevant holes are there for the ARB mounts in the Chassis and the lower arms, so I may well fit it as when I bought the 93 for spares and drove it 50 miles home, it seemed tighter on the road than my daily used 98.

I've fitted gas shox and it's better on the rear so the ARB should make it even better.

Sorry to drag up this old thread.

I'm looking to change my Rear Lower Arms to a pair like in your pic above.

The only ones I can find are for the Civic, I'm aware a lot of the Honda suspension is interchangeable with the Rover. I would just like confirmation from someone who has hand-on experience, as they say, before I get the wrong ones.

Thanks in advance

Mine were a special group buy that were then modified to fit.

The civic ones have a slightly larger middle bush where it connects to the suspension strut.
