According to the Landcrab club the official/unofficial venue is Lowhill Lane, which runs alongside the original venue Cofton Park.

Gaydon fitted in a couple of hundred cars at an hour's notice and apart from it being a bit cold and wet it went well.

Sorry we couldn't get the word out to everybody individually and some had already left home before the cancellation. Nobody controls the weather though...

Gaydon wasn't an 'event' just lot of cars in a car park with a handy museum with a café and flushing loos but in the circumstances it was an unexpectedly good result.

Thanks to Kevin Morton and Simon Boosey for thinking of it quickly.

I managed to leave my phone at home (again) so no pics from me but I'm expecting a few to appear here soon....

I gather from conversations I had overheard with folks there that it's been raining all week and especially so on the Thursday and all night plus snow. The snow had been forecast, so to state the day before that the event was going ahead was a ill judged statement for the organisers to make. People had journeyed from across the channel to get there! :sad

The cancellation made the news: http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/mi ... m-11194861

The last time it snowed in April to my mind was 1998 - with the Good Friday agreement in Northern Ireland. I remember it distinctly.

Hopefully it will go ahead later in the year. The frustration (lets call it that) needs to dissipate first. It'd be great if it comes up in the summer months.

Back-up plan was only for if the park was a swimming pool not for poor weather too.

Thanks Jeremy. Nice mix of cars at Gaydon - in fact all 'our' cars were represented :clapping

Like to see some from Longbridge and Cov Motor Museum too.

PS. Is that "No.1" I've spotted....? :wink3

I missed the fact everyone was decamping to Gaydon and I stayed at Longbrige. I'd have gone to Gaydon if I'd known :-(

Yes, sorry that we couldn't notify everyone that some of us had diverted to Gaydon. John contacted Gaydon following Simon Boosey's suggestion that we went there. Gaydon were very good to accommodate us at short notice as they had other events on in the museum but it was on the basis that we directed the traffic so John and I did some ad hoc traffic control which made it very difficult for us to contact others. Despite all the confusion I am sure you had a good day at Longbridge as we did at Gaydon.
Nobody can control the weather and it is easy to criticise the organisers of POL after the event.
