New magazine adverts launched
The Rover 200 & 400 Owners Club wizards have been working hard (again) to bring you more Rover content relevant to the cars the club supports.
Specifically, Steve Huckle (our current Web Master and former Treasurer) has updated all the magazine adverts that you can get to via the "Cars" menu on the home page.
The new versions are much higher quality and have a higher resolution, so you can read the body text (although possibly only on a larger screen and with glasses on).
There are 5 new ones in the mix too...
Direct links:
200 Mk1 / (SD3) adverts: https://www.rover200.org.uk/sd3/sd3-ads
200 Mk2 / 400 Mk 1 (R8) adverts: https://www.rover200.org.uk/r8/r8-ads
400 MK2 (HHR) adverts: https://www.rover200.org.uk/hhr/hhr-ads
200 MK3 (R3) adverts: https://www.rover200.org.uk/r3/r3-ads
Enjoy!

Great pics.
That green looking 220GTi in picture 5 of the R8's, was that a real colour?
Or some generous photo shopping

It's a photographic interpretation of BRG! There is a reason why so many of the adverts were of cars in Flame Red and later in Nightfire, they photograph well.

As per Jeremy's post... And the body coloured wheels were an option by the way. Ever seen any though?

There's a funny story about these body-coloured wheels, although at the time it didn't seen so funny...Johnny 216GSi wrote: ↑Wed Jun 10, 2020 11:01 pm

I was running the Chassis design and release team at this time and someone in Marketing thought that the 93MY 220 needed something to make it stand out visually from the other 3 doors and proposed these.
After a significant amount of investigation with suppliers we determined that there wasn't a viable production route to make them with the silver rim-section, which would have to had to be masked off very carefully. Painting the whole wheel body-colour just looked wrong and in any case, being very low volumes of several colours it would have been a logistical nightmare and horrendously expensive.
So discussions were had and the idea was put to bed, so we thought...
To say I was surprised when I first saw the sales brochure is an understatement

I rang my Marketing colleague asking how this mistake could have been allowed to get through to the brochure but he calmly replied that it wasn't a mistake - they'd talked to the local Rover dealership, Clarkes of Rednall, who were happy to paint wheels when orders were taken.
Whether I actually said "good luck with that!" I can't remember but I do know it was never actually put into practice.
I believe it was put in to look good in the advert, which it did, but with no intention of ever producing any. The dealers were probably told to steer any potential customers away from that option with the line "there's a VERY long lead-time on those..."
(Something similar happened in an 800 brochure when the bodykit was announced: the photos shows cars with the very stylish wheels from the Rover CCV concept vehicle but this time the small print read something along the lines of "These wheels are not available separately or as part of a kit" So not available at all then...

Enjoyed that blast from the past cheers .
How time as progress , cuting edge then switching stations and turning up the volume with out taking your hands of the steering and now you can take your hand of the steering wheel and it parks its self

Re: New magazine adverts launched
Could those videos be made available on YouTube?
Because I've the same problem as previously (non compatible system - Linux Ubuntu & Firefox): I can't see any on the Club pages given in the link...
Thank you so much.
EDIT : sorry for my mistake! I thought they were videos when they are pictures!
