Re: The Hunt For Driveability in a 416

Interestingly, from other photos it would appear that K series engined cars did NOT have the holes for the subframe brace and I cannot predict if it fits the ZS180 cars.
Ask the VHS guys, they'll know :D

Re: The Hunt For Driveability in a 416

... the DC2 front brace (which I discovered by accident) fitted Rover 400s.The Rover chassis had four bolt holes ready drilled with bolts already in situ so it was easy to fit. This has sharpened up my steering considerably. Something I have heard of, but not seen, Civic braces that fit inside the ...

Re: The Hunt For Driveability in a 416

Forgive the ignorance but for my edification: the front brace is across the top of the suspension (under bonnet) and the anti roll bar is somewhere under the engine across the 'axle'? I know it's not an axle but the word suits my purpose and you hardly hear it these days so felt it needed resurrect...

Re: 30 years of R8 on August 1st 2020

It's certainly high up on the list :clapping R8 No.1 is still around, fortunately but had it's first 18 years of life in a museum collection and has a much lower mileage. There is a 216 that was registered a week after the launch day and still going strong. There is also a pair of R8 that have both ...

Re: Wheel be together again.....

While poking around for some other bits I've come across a bag of 12 used but OE, tapered nuts for Rover alloys and 1 ball-ended nut for steels, so if anybody finds they've got the wrong type drop me a line :)

Re: SD3 Exclusive Styling kit

If anyone is interested in railways on here have they noticed the front valence on a class 158 shares similar styling ques as the maestro turbo front spoiler/bumper. Both were styled by Tickford around the same time I wonder whether it was the same stylist I've heard things compared to the 'back en...

Very glad we've been able to help.

Many thanks to Jonathan for his comprehensive answer, as always :angel

As you say, the 'error' has most likely been introduced by a swap from steels to alloys.

Re: Wheel be together again.....

Have taken remaining twelve nuts off from 45 and they are all the rounded or slightly domed seat/collar type. They all look to be the same I.e. No different shoulder height and same dome profile. Should I worry? Maybe... Have you had a look at the nut seat faces in the 45's alloys? If they're taper...

Re: Wheel be together again.....

The type of seat does matter and it matters a lot! You must use the correct type, especially with alloys. If you use the rounded ones where a taper should be used you'll get a narrow annular contact which could locally overstress the wheel with potentially dire consequences :scared So have a good lo...
