Re: Alternator woes continue

A salvage job is often the best bet, a suppossedly new unit for < 100 is quite likely to be more trouble than it's worth.

If you have a OEM one why not get it refurbiished at an auto electricians?

Probably be taking a cheap replacement one off again in two years time when it stops charging.

Re: Headgasket

Don't drain the heater; so turn the heat to cold. Run it with the expansion tank cap off from cold & watch the level.

Then take it for a short run, wait till hot, then plenty of revs, let it cool and check the level, then keep an eye on it fo r the next week or so.

A good day & an excellent turn out; thank you to John & Jeremy who were doing sterling work organising the parking!

I had an enjoyable day, didn't get to speak to everybody, but spoke to a few non members in R8's parked on the hill. :)

I think that the suspension is standard R8; it's just the f/wings & possibly the windscreen that are different.

Re: Battery not being charged

I hope you're using a big fat low resistance copper cable for this extra cable run that you've designed in?

You should be seeing 14+ V across the battery with the lights on.

Don't buy a cheap alternator Vinny, more trouble than it's worth when you have to fund the return postage. :slapme

Re: Pride of Longbridge 13th April 2019

I'm assuming that we get in via what at the moment looks to be a pedestrian only entrance?

From the South it's best to approach via Licky Hills B4096?

Re: Brake compensator valve

ABS systems don't use a pressure reducing valve to the rear wheels, the modulator does that when the ABS sensor on the hub detects that the wheel is slowing compared to the other three.

Re: Thermostat

There is a PRV setup really designed for the Freelander that resites the stat and also opens under pressure. Beef on here manufactures a aluminium alloy housing to replace the plastic OEM job that also involves a resite too. Send me a message if you want his telephone number, I decided against publi...
