Re: 214 SLi Price 1991

The Rover Dealer in Beeston was selling [second hand] 214 SLi's for £7k in 1993. I hadn't thought about the cost of servicing before splashing out.... Anyway the car needed a 24,000 mile major service just after I bought it, that bleed me dry until I learnt not to turn up on a Saturday morning & pay...

Re: Engine change phase 2 cat engine to phase 1 differences?

The heads, or rather the camshafts differ between cat & non cat twin cam D16's, that information is straight out of the Honda Engine Overhaul Manual. I think there is a power reduction caused by the catalyst itself. :)

Re: 216 16v se cabriolet

The early 1.4 K Series is a very under rated engine! I remember back in the day [1993], the Rover salesman claiming that the K Series was a better engine than the Honda!

Nice photos!

I'm surprised he's not sporting a beard, the car looks, well what to say, apart from pass the bucket.. :chav I once unfortunately through unforeseen circumstances ended up buying a house with a pink lounge carpet, gloss painted walls & mat pink radiators, I've been allergic to candy floss pink ever ...

Beware Sheep Wearing Wolf Clothing!

There is a lot of reasonable quality tools on the market, EBay especially that represent very good value at the price. :cool BUT beware so-called impact socket sets manufactured from Chrome Vanadium Steel, impact sockets SHOULD be manufactured from ChroMo. They look the part with an [impact socket] ...

Re: Sad times at the Rcoc

RCOC always did seem to operate on a strange business model, there is some bile being displayed on that thread; anybody who thinks body panel re-manufacture takes 12 months isn't in the real world. They had a paranoia that we wanted to take them over! it was an innocent suggestion regarding possibly...

Re: Valuation help requested for legal purposes

I'm not sure there is going to be much of a market for old diesels soon, Bristol is talking about banning all diesels from the city centre completely, with a charge to enter a larger surrounding zone. I would get a quote from a licensed vehicle dismantler to take it away; you need to sign off on a c...

Re: D16 Engine Number Variants

Just to add to that fine reply from Jon; the non cat DOHC D16 engine had different cam shaft profiles and different cam timing I believe. That is according to my Honda Engine Manual, shouldn't make any difference to the head gasket fit though.

Unfortunately I won't be there, the boiler is broke & I don't want to leave the house without heating all day. :sad
