Re: 1995 216SLI - impulse purchase!

Reference the clutch bite point; it's a manually adjusted clutch cable and you will need to remove the induction trunking/battery/battery tray to get near it. A set of 3/8 sq drive single hex' sockets will be very useful, pull back the adjuster as its located by small round dowels in the friction fa...

Re: Rover 416 GTI Auto - Restoring an old friend

Don't use waterless coolant [ Evans springs to mind ] it's secret lies in it's poor heat transfer characteristics. The stuff leaves the heat in your block/cyclinder head instead of transferring it to the cooling system! It's flammable and very slippery [like oil] banned by all forms of motor sport! :o

Re: Value for 416GSi?

Before writing it off, find out what is actually wrong with it instead of guessing. Water or condensension is a normal byproduct of the combustion process, especially from cold. A rough idle can be lot's of things, fouled injectors or failing or incorrectly specced spark plugs for example. I wouldn'...

Re: X part

Thanks for that info Jonathon. I could possibly have bought a Gates Kit cheaper, however I opted to buy from XPart who are open for business again; I spoke to a very helpful woman working from home and got a belt idler & spring for £75.00 delivered, that's inclusive of 10% discount. You have to ment...

Re: Cabby hood qtr deck retaining piece

It seems to be impossible to get the right hand side part (DSG10002) to fix the hood down to the deck... fortunately the left hand side (DSG10003) is still available from Rimmer's. Along with the rear deck retainer (below the plastic rear screen) these mild steel items are poorly protected from the...

Blackcircles Tyres

Bought a Michelin, just one to match the other tyres on the car, think it was an Ecco-climate, picture shows a conventional block pattern tread. Pictures not part of the description obvs. What turned up at the fitters, was a uni-directional tyre that can only be fitted to one side of the vehicle! no...
