Re: Head Gasket help needed

I have worked out that as I cant do the repairs myself I would have to spend the best part of £700-£800 to put the things wrong with the car right and then it will still be a bit tatty. So this car is being scrapped and my many attempts to own a Rover are finished for the time being. Rovers are good...

Re: Head Gasket help needed

Sorry been in Northern Ireland, 8 hours on a ferry each way wow. True if i buy another car then night still have issues. Door is rusted at the bottom and needs changing or repair. Sunroof leaked and was told its the outside seal. I might take it to local mechanic neighbour of a friend and see what h...

Re: Head Gasket help needed

Not yet but i suspect the price will be about the same as it seems about right. I just cant justify spending more on the car than its worth. Perhaps I should just clear my garage and put it in there as a later barn find

Re: Head Gasket help needed

Found a local guy through the church who says between £400 and £500 to do the same as the mobile link people.

Car is probably isn't worth much more than this in very good condition so seems pointless fixing it

Thoughts please?

Re: Head Gasket help needed

The mobile one is going to be about £400 minimum and this includes all the gaskets and waterpump etc I understand. They seem to know what they are talking about but as the car needs a new door and the sunroof fixed not sure if its worth it or not. They have a spare head just in case mine is beyond m...

Re: Head Gasket help needed

Creamy muck in water, bit of white cream in oil, top rad hose burst which ive replaced which revealed the issue and I have used a bit of water. I'm no mechanic but I'd be surprised if its anything else. Bristol is only down the road, Ill cook you dinner *laughs*

Re: Head Gasket help needed

I think Rovers are fine cars but if I can't get them fixed bit pointless having one. It won't be economical to pay a proper garage to fix it so I need to cut my losses on this one and every Rover I have had to date. All good cars to drive and all cost me a small fortune in rubbish mechanics

Re: Head Gasket help needed

I do know a good Fiat dealership though with a good (not cheap) service department. Had 3 Fiats and barely an issue with any of them

Head Gasket help needed

I acquired a bubble 200 1.1 recently and it seems it has a head gasket issue (gunky muck in water, bit of cream in the oil). Now if I had the time I would love to learn to fix this myself, unfortunately time is something I just don't have and bad thumbs to boot. Now I have a choice of either getting...
