MOT pass with no advisories - Hooray!

Another year of Rovering to look forward to. :D Speedo now at 25,000+ so I did just under 5k last year. I was delighted with the emissions readings. Passed with flying colours. Not a drop of oil or coolant used in the year. Apart from a slight weep of power steering fluid (from one of the not good R...

Flashing!

I've noticed lately that I'm getting a flash of headlights from other R8 drivers. Anyone else noticed this? seems like a friendly way to go.

Re: Handbrake light symbol question

If your fluid is leaking, it will probably be a rear wheel cylinder. Look for evidence on the bottom of the brake drums at the rear or take the drums off to check.

Re: Original Tyres?

When I had the original tyres replaced on my low mileage 414, the tyre fitter folded the old tyres to show me the cracking. Wow! You could see the cords in places! I change my tyres every five years now after seeing that. He showed me several others that had bubbled or blown in his rogues gallery. S...

Re: Air con failure

Some of the later cars did have ECU input into the air-con system. Be very careful with how you check the wiring as a normal test lamp can spike te ECU and kill it. You have to use a logic probe to be on the safe side. If the refrigerant is full and pressurised and the pump works when switched, you ...

On Original Head Gasket after 19 years!

Although my 95 414 only has 21000 miles on it, it is still on the original head gasket (touches wood over and over). I wonder how many original K series head gaskets are still going strong after 19 years?
