216 GSi - Boot Spoiler Refitting - Advice/Experiences sought

Hi, my boot spoiler has now become completely detached from its mounting. Any advice and/or experience to pass on as to the best way to refit it please? I presume it is just stuck on, but obviously it would also need to be detachable again if I ever needed to remove the mounting. Is it fixed origina...

Re: Bedfordshire rover meet up?!

I'm in Northampton (not far from Bedford) and would be interested in pooling resources. Maybe even join you in a meet up.

Dunno at the moment, life's been a bit complicated recently. If things have evened out a bit by then, I'll try to get there.

Misadvertised 416 tourer - Lymington

Advertised on E-Bay as a 75 Tourer. Might be an intersting project (otherwise it's 1 fewer left) or parts car.

Re: Front discs

I just hang the calipers off the suspension springs using a length of 4mm bonsai wire - great stuff to have in your toolkit. You won't necessarily need an impact driver but there's a fair chance you will. I've never had any problem getting the caliper bolts undone even very old ones - just use the r...

Have now picked up the press for the trailing arm bushes. If it will still be useful, I'l bring it with me tomorrow.

Re: 2019 Restoration Show Centrepiece Charity Cabriolet

And says he has all tools needed - Many thanks I've bought the press for removing and fitting the radius arm bushes. I should be picking it up Friday. I'll bring it with me Saturday. It should make the job a lot easier and make us look reasonably professional. If the job gets done Friday instead, t...

Re: 2019 Restoration Show Centrepiece Charity Cabriolet

John is just being modest. This was very much a team effort and everyone contributed equally. Pleased to get it done in a day and with the successful outcome. As a club, we should do this sort of thing more often - it's a great way to get to know people and is a great incentive to get things done. O...

Re: What to do with my 45

Pity we didn't know about this earlier - it sounds like it would have been another good candidate for the Resto Show. Most of the jobs that need doing are fairly easily doable by a DIY mechanic. Depending upon what the brake set up is (ABS?) and what the failure point was, only that and the welding ...

Re: Club Social Media Presence

Thanks for the comprehensive reply Paul - much appreciated and has cleared a lot of things up. This is where I show my ignorance. In which case you have nothing to fear - the only person that can post on the Club Twitter or Instagram page is me. It is not possible for other people to post content. S...

Re: Club Social Media Presence

Hi JohnDQ, no, I don't consider it as rude. This is a dialectic and we should all be able to exchange opinions without feeling offended, or offending. You're right, I am out of touch and I like things kept simple and structured, which is what the forum provides. It is a succinct central point of com...

Re: Club Social Media Presence

The club's reputation can be tarnished if people start posting inappropriate content on any of the sites. We can't control what people say, or how they say it, so it needs to be continuously monitored. Just look at the verbal diarrhoea frequently found all over social media and the personal spats be...
