Re: Head Gasket/Oil Ladder Upgrade.

Hi John - I am intending to check the liner heights before I order the kit, but thanks for making the point. I'm not expecting them to be a problem, as far as i know this is a good engine that hasn't had any HG problems. But I won't know until I've got the top off. I'm presuming the strengthened oil...

Head Gasket/Oil Ladder Upgrade.

As a result of receiving a small income tax refund, :D I am now in a position to prepare my replacement engine to put in my very sick Tourer. It’s a K series 1.6 that’s done 64,000 (allegedly). Before I do the engine swap, I am going to do the HG upgrade with the strengthened Oil Ladder and through ...

onlinecarparts.co.uk list a Payen Head gasket that they say fits both the Z4 and A8 variants.

Re: 53 plate 45 TD Heater problem

I've just been looking at the exploded diagram on Rimmer's and it's not clear how it works mechanically from this. It sounds as if either you've got some obstruction in the ducts blocking the airflow, or, more likely, that rotating the dial is not moving the airflow diverter the last position or so....

lotus3512 - It was a pleasure to meet you at the AGM, thanks for coming. Great to have some young blood coming into the club. Hope to see you at future, less prosaic, events. Lovely car you've bought - I hope you have many, many miles of enjoyable driving in it. Best wishes, Duncan.

Re: Happy 30th Birthday to the R8!

No, the Tourer is a way off yet. I need to do the engine swap first and then find out what it needs for an MoT. I've got some trailing arm bushes to fit and rear suspension is a bit suspect. Not too sure about the steering rack either - but I can't really remember, it's at least 5 years since I last...

Re: Happy 30th Birthday to the R8!

. . . . and today is my R8's 30th birthday. Happy birthday G722 DUY. A good day today - the Tourer is now running again (as well as it's likely to, until I've done the engine swap, but at least it's movable again) and I just picked up a pair of NOS sills for Trusty Rusty for £30 + postage from Ebay.

The event was a fantastic idea. The day was a fabulous day. The organisers did an incredible, praiseworthy job. This is great coverage. This is a club to be proud of. Thank you so much for putting this together for us. Long live our R8s.

Re: FS: 216 GSi with leather etc etc spares or repair

Previous write off, crease in o/s sill, crease in n/s sill, crease in n/s wing, dent in n/s/f door. Looks like both o/s doors are damaged at bottom (but may be dirt/marks or bad pics). And they obviously want more than £165 for it. With no paperwork and previous write off, I wouldn't be so sure abou...

When did the problem start? Has it been running recently? Did you fit a new rotor arm when you changed the distributor cap?

Contrary to the forecast, we've had very little rain over the past 2 days after all.

Re: 7th BL Autumn Rally, Milto Keynes - Sunday Sept 29th

I'm 15 miles from the MK site. It's currently pouring down and forecast to do so all day. Rain predicted to continue right through to Sunday, with the odd respite. It's on grass parking, so likely to be a quagmire. Shame if we lose this one to the weather, it's a nice little season ender.

Re: R8 "The Graduate" re-run September 14/15th 2019

I'd been looking forward to this event all year but, unfortunately, the date was announced 2 days after I accepted an invitation to be a guest at the World Para Swimming Championships at the Olympic pool. Sorry, but I'm not prepared to let my host down. I hope you have a great time. It would have be...
