Re: Rover 216 Coupe XW springs

I want to upgrade to aftermarket sports springs, the only ones i can find here are listed for the later model. They come as a kit - front and rear. Mm. I think you need to take some advice from the retailer - maybe someone else on this forum can comment on compatibility... but the rear end of an RF...

Re: Rover 216 Coupe XW springs

Do the later rover 200 series (RF) springs fit on the XW coupe ? I may be able to find springs for that car over here , but for my coupe there is absolutely nothing. The R3 (RF) front end suspension is identical to the R8 (XW) front end, and I'd imagine the engine weights are "similar" - although t...

Re: Rover 216 Coupe XW springs

Can anyone tell me what springs would fit the Coupe ? I know concerto springs are the same , but do any others fit ? For the fronts, all the after-market springs up to the 1.6 SOHC Honda engine are the same. The 216GTi (twin cam) springs and the 1.8D and 2.0L springs are stiffer and will be a diffe...

Re: Pride of Longbridge 13th April 2019

I believe entrance 1 is the main entrance which is the tarmac road down to what is the normal car park area. Entrance 2 is the hard-core track nearer to the factory Q gate. Yes, I've found it now. It's just a little way further down Lowhill Lane, opposite the left turn for Groveley Lane. I was look...

P1 please ;-)
Are we sure we're going in at the Groveley Lane entrance? It looks a bit narrow and there are two steel bollards in the way - looks more like a walk-in/bike-in entrance to me.

Re: Electric windows.

I’d want to swap the door cards over as I’d be swapping the leather over, it’s not that I desperately want rear electric windows, I just want everything to look right In which case, just source 2 replacement door cards with manual wind holes from another car with the right colour interior. It depen...

Re: 3D printing t series throttle body spacer

3D printers use 3 types of material normally. There's a thermo-plastic filament type which melts at quite low temperatures. Then there's ABS filament - ideal for car components, but the higher melting temperature means the 3D printer has to have this capability - some just don't run hot enough. And ...

Re: Rough drivability from cold

I'm having a little issue with my 220 GTi in that it runs a little rough until it is warm. Any idea what it can be? I have carried out the stepper motor reset, which sorted it for then, but it's still not right. The moment I dip the clutch, ready to stop at a junction and the revs die and it nearly...

Re: R8 front hubs

There’s a possibility I may need a new passenger side front hub Anyone know if this part is interchangeable with any later r3 cars? Or am I model specific Mr. Teddy Bear has provided a link but it looks like a rear hub to me, and I think you need a front one, so here goes: If you're talking about a...

Before 1999, If it's an automatic, it will be a Honda Engine. If it's a manual, it will be a Rover engine. After 1999, all engines are Rove...

Re: Engine weights?

I think the D series is about 130Kg-140Kg, excluding transmission.

I had a figure of 130Kg in my head from other souces I've read long ago, but I've added the -140Kg because of this web page: http://mywikimotors.com/honda-d16a-d16y-d16z/

History of corrosion on MOT though.
Seems to have been "fixed" recently - though not sure what work was actually undertaken. The sills and rear arch sections do look clean, so maybe they've been repaired to the right standard?? Or perhaps someone's found a "sympathetic" MOT testing station?

Re: FS; Early 216 GSi

It's on Autotrader as well. It's been around for a while, but I agree - the colour combo is rather nice with the interior and exterior being complementary - even the cherry and tempest looking good as two rich/saturated colours. Just needs a once over underneath to check sub-frame and the general co...
