Re: Hello from West Lothian

Regarding the starter motor-check and clean the connections, especially the earth spade connector. They’re notorious for furring up and giving a bad contact; far cheaper than a new starter, too! Yes agreed with that ,also check the wire at that age the copper corrodes its wise to just replace both ...

Re: Giving up

Hiya everyone, I have had Rover 216 Cabriolets of and on for about 12 years. It has been a love affair... I loved them, they didn’t love me back. Can’t stand more heartbreak, I am giving up. I have a Silver Rover 216 Cab 1998 Rover Engine (yes, I know, I know!) In recent years I have had the roof r...

Re: Hello from West Lothian

:welcome :welcome Hi folks, I'm into day 3 of Rover 216 Cabriolet (I think it's an SE) ownership having picked up my 64k mile, Hawaiian blue example from a lovely chap near Stirling. Having regretted not buying an almost identical example I looked at in Glasgow about seven years ago I have had an al...

Re: Power steering

Hi all My 216 failed its MOT on corroded power steering pipe and replacements are now NLA. Ive had the idea to replace with high pressure rubber hose. Any thoughts or suggestions ? Just get them made up with the screw fittings on the end , cant see why the pipes would be expensive they are just sta...

I'm going to replace the oil sump on my K series engine soon. I've got a new gasket to go on too but my question is do I use sealant with it too? If so which one should I use?
Thanks in advance
Sealant on alloy sump and just gasket on early steel ones👍

Re: 216 Cabriolet Rear Suspension trailing arm

It turns out that I need a replacement RH Rear Lower Lateral Link for a non ABS 216. Rimmers want £200. Alternatively a new set of bushes for the existing part and a new bolt for the shock absorber would fix the issue. Again Rimmers only have bushes for an ABS equipped vehicle. Can anyone help plea...

Re: H reg Rover 416gsi front subframe wanted

Is the rust issue peculiar to the Honda powered models or does it afflict all R8s? All models , its the luck of the draw i would say were its lived and how its been used , seen ones as good as new and some like tea bags , they rust behind the rubber mounting , its hidden there and not seen until th...

Re: H reg Rover 416gsi front subframe wanted

My local garage recently had a 216 cabriolet (Honda engine) in with the same problem. After struggling to find a correct replacement subframe/crossmember, one from a K-series car was obtained and some careful modification (removal of K-series engine tie rod bracket, then welding on of Honda engine ...
