Re: Valuation help requested for legal purposes

Yes I think you have, many thanks - although when it comes to justifying any valuation, having as many different opinion as possible will make that much easier. If they all come up with similar values then even better (although I am not trying to influence what folks might reply here - if opinion ar...

Re: Valuation help requested for legal purposes

Thank you very much folks - great to have some replies so quickly :clapping I should also have mentioned that the interior has a light covering of mould but it appears it will all clean off fairly easily (apart from the above mentioned headlining). Some of the interior is also dismantled at the mome...

Valuation help requested for legal purposes

Hello all I need to obtain a valuation for one of my Dad's R8 218s for legal purposes and would be very grateful for help with this (the car is not for sale on the open market). So essentially just tell me what you think it would be worth on the open market, or what you would be willing to pay. 1994...

Re: Tempest Grey door rubing strips - all the same shade?

Many thanks guys :) I'll try some 'back to black' stuff on the strips on the cars and see if they come up the same as the one with the red insert. I'm a bit too worried about knackering things with the hot air gun :unsure [quote="roverman1"The rubbing strips with the bright inserts are a lighter gre...

Tempest Grey door rubing strips - all the same shade?

I have a Tempest Grey rubbing strip with a RED insert from a secondhand door I got a while ago. When I compared it to my two cars, which both have Tempest Grey rubbing strips with BRIGHT inserts, the one with the red insert had a darker shade of grey plastic. So were Tempest Grey rubbing sptrips wit...

Re: Illuminated ashtray and ignition lock

Thanks for the reply, didn't know about cost reductions other than the change to the centre console.

What other things were affected, or was it just these three items?

Re: Battery drain after fitting later VDO C42 radio

Bah, spoke too soon didn't I. After I typed the above post I realised that I was getting the 0.25 amps drain on the 'memory' pin when there was power going to the 'power' pin as I had left the wire (with permanent 12v) connected. I retested at the 'memory' pin with nothing going to the 'power' pin -...

Illuminated ashtray and ignition lock

Just wondering what models had an illuminated ashtray and ignition lock? My Dad has a 218SD Turbo and a 218SLD Turbo, both 1994, either these do not have the features or they're broken. I couldn't see a bulb or holder near the ashtray, nor see where light could come out around the lock. Does anybody...

Re: Battery drain after fitting later VDO C42 radio

Thanks very much E_T_V. I know that some cars have 'ISO' wiring but slightly different e.g. some VAG and FIAT's have the switched and permanent the other way around. Knowing that the R8 is completely standard was a good starting point. I have checked through all the car's wiring, pins on the radio, ...

Re: Battery drain after fitting later VDO C42 radio

Just wondering, could anybody please tell me which pins the radio wiring was connected to from the factory - not the speakers connector but the other connector with 12v switched (LGn/W), 12v permanent (P), illumination (R/Bk) & Earth (B)? If anyone could help with that I'd be very grateful. Thanks, ...

Re: Battery drain after fitting later VDO C42 radio

Thank you very much for the advice. Yes, the drain is when the ignition & radio are off - in fact when everything is off. You may well be right with the switched and permanent feeds being swapped, I hadn't thought of that - I just assumed the adapter would be correct. I have noticed that almost ever...

Battery drain after fitting later VDO C42 radio

Hi all I'd fitted a VDO C42 radio cassette from the later Rover 25 & 45 to a 1994 218SLD using a proper adapter lead (ISO to BMW type plug). However, it is draining the battery. There is a drain of 0.26 amps when the radio is installed. With it removed, the drain is 0.01 amps i.e. normal. The radio ...

I see - so if I take the key fob and receiver (I do have the infra red system) from my old car and put them into the new one then they should still work together without reprogramming and without the need to swap over any control unit or other part. I guess the only way to find out is to try it!

Key fob & receiver transplant & door lock

Hi everyone, this appears to be a very useful forum. Is it possible to transfer the key fob receiver in the interior lamp from one car into another without needing any reprogramming? Have purchased a replacement R8 but it didn't come with a fob. Also, is it possible to swap the plastic rings on the ...
