Re: Festival of the Unexceptional 2019 20th July

J944EWP caught my eye as I wandered around - 420GSi with fog lights to boot, along with the leather interior - is that a club member's ?

Amazing amount of interest in my old 620 too, bizarrely.

Re: 214 SPI fails MoT on CO emissions

Thanks, much appreciated - I'll ping you a PM shortly.

It'll probably be a few weeks before I can come to yours (214 being willing of course !) as I'm booked up for the next two weeks with work, parts collections for various members of my fleet and the Festival of the Unexceptional !

Re: 214 SPI fails MoT on CO emissions

Yup, NIL. The tester said to me 'yeah, it's just squeaked past'. I asked him what the readings were and he smiled and showed me. HCs were 29 so it was definitely working. I suppose when you combine new barely used cat, 15 litres of petrol, a bottle of Cataclean and an Italian tune up it is entirely ...

Re: 214 SPI fails MoT on CO emissions

Agreed, if I get up early enough tomorrow, I'm gonna lob a few litres of Shell petrol and some Cataclean in there for good measure, and then give it a razz down the M1 in 3rd/4th for a junction or two, before rocking up at the test centre.

Re: 7th BL Autumn Rally, Milto Keynes - Sunday Sept 29th

Should be do-able, with any luck maybe I can get the 214 to that one, somehow, to make up for the absence of K-reg cars yesterday ;)

Re: BMC & Leyland Show, Gaydon - 7th July 2019

I had a great day - thanks, John, for the heads up on the 'hidden exhibits section' above the workshop - best part bar none of the museum in my opinion ! Google Maps also sent me back home down some great B-roads to avoid some jam or other on the Mways, so had a great hoon on the way home to make a ...

Re: BMC & Leyland Show, Gaydon - 7th July 2019

Just realised I booked in the 420 under it's Northern Ireland (private) registration but I've since had it re-christened with its original L reg.

Best take both V5s and the retention certificate, lest I get mugged off by a jobsworth...

Re: Which things will kill our cars? Common faults?

SPI cars seem to be very thin on the ground with regards to fuel system components, unless someone knows of a secret source? This. Stepper motor ? Throttle pot ? Non-existent (although thankfully a fellow member had a TPS which he let me have for buttons) - in fact the whole throttle body are now i...

Re: Festival of the Unexceptional 2019 20th July

I've just found out from an 'inside source' they are doing an Anniversary Class this year (for any cars celebrating anniversaries this year) so I have asked whether they have included any R8s in this new class - I expressed my sadness as I'm taking the 620 (although I reckon it's likely to be the on...
