Re: Help with a fueling issue please?

Yes its running very well again and back in daily use. The company that sent me the first faulty ECU then the exchange one said the ECU's can fail if the battery is left to go flat but I've had this car for a very long time and never heard that before and don't know if anyone else has.

Re: Help with a fueling issue please?

Just to finish this post off, I didn't break this in the end. I walked away and left it for awhile then as in my other post it was an ECU fault and the first replacement ECU was also faulty. So with a second new ECU it is running well again, mot'd and back on the road so I can enjoy driving it again.

Re: 5AS immobilizer repair/ by pass FIXED

Fixed at last it was an ECU fault. My original one had failed then the recon replacement I got only started the car once which I was then looking for other faults. Anyway I returned the ECU to the supplier and when I got back from my holidays the replacement was here. plugged it in and car starts fi...

5AS immobilizer repair/ by pass

As above, still messing on with my 214 sli and its looking like the fault could be in this box, nothing else left to try. I know years ago you could get a harness that plugged into these but the company I got one off years ago is no longer trading. Can anyone suggest a company that can test and repa...

Re: Help with a fueling issue please?

Fault still there, car fired up straight away on Monday night and ran fine, went to move it tonight and give it a quick run around the block to make sure it was still ok ready for mot tomorrow and once again it won't start. Now breaking, I'll list it on ebay as breaking and in the for sale section, ...

Re: Help with a fueling issue please?

Well I've just replaced the new crank sensor with another new one I had on the shelf and it fired straight up and is running perfect! Not sure if this is just luck and the intermittent fault is still there, time will tell but at the moment thats a big improvement. My car has the sensor with the blue...

Re: Which things will kill our cars? Common faults?

I am a 44 year old mechanic, trained on Volvos mainly. I've had many rovers over the years and worked on and serviced all sorts and still restore mostly 1960s to 1980s cars for fun. I've had this 214 for about 10 years and done everything its needed until this problem. I am however not an auto elect...

Re: Help with a fueling issue please?

No sorry, just had a quick mess on in between showers today and I've ran out of Easy start. The best I can get without it today is it tries to fire when the pump has first primed then thats it. I'll try another crank sensor if I get a chance during the week then after that I'm starting to think immo...

Re: Help with a fueling issue please?

Hi its a 14 rover K, I have already changed the crankshaft sensor as well, I forgot to mention that, suppose it could be a dodgy new one. I've got another one on the shelf, will give it a go just in case. Thankyou.
