Re: 216 Vitesse SD3 project car

I hate to say it but that really doesn't look like it would be worth bothering with

Re: FS; Early 216 GSi

But if they installed them at the factory it would have cost peanuts

Re: FS; Early 216 GSi

Why oh why did so few of these top spec models have alloy wheels and aircon? If Rover were serious about encroaching into the bottom end of Jaguar's territory, both of those things should have been on the spec sheet. It's a lovely looking car, though. I love the clean look of the nose on the grille-...

Re: Anyone ever messed about with l series injectors???

The R8 diesels , 825 and Metro were powered by Peugeot engines but the rest are Rover engines (and 75 was BMW but we don't want to mention that :) ).

I never did understand why the R8 wasn't powered by the L-series because it fits nicely, due to being based on the T-series

would feel like driving a space hopper. ....or could be viewed as giving a decent ride quality at last. I know that it made a noticeable difference (improvement) on our old 414 R8 when we stepped up a tyre size. It also looked better - the originals looked stupidly skinny As for gearing, we went fr...

Re: Front discs

You don't need to disconnect the brake hoses - you can tie the caliper to the coil spring to keep it out of the way

214 Starter Motor Differences?

Can anyone tell me if all R8 214 starter motors are the same? I've seen Marelli and Lucas ones on ebay but they look the same. Also, are they the same as R3 214/25? I'm still mulling over taking that free 200 SE but it sounds like it needs a new starter and I've never had to change one before. Thanks

My first thought is "no" as the two are based on very different platforms. However, i have no direct experience

Re: Cambelt snapped

I think you'd need the engine running faster than that to build compression, even on a healthy engine

Good news, off memory i'm sure the honda engine isn't an impact engine so should just be a case of new belt away you go.
It's certainly worth the cost of the belt to give it a go

So, was there ever an interior leather option for the 200/400 series then?
We had a 1994 414SLi with full leather interior (including the inserts on the door cards). However, it was a LHD Saudi Arabian spec model with aircon :)

Just use enough to hold it -it won't require much

Re: Wooden Gear Knob

If sticking a push fit gear knob on a screw fitting, you my find that the push fit one is tight enough to cut its own thread as you turn it.

Alternatively, I'd be thinking of Araldite epoxy or even the dreaded (but only semi-permanent) silicon sealant

Re: Rover 216 died

I’d try a different known good battery first :) Good advice. Also, even a very slightly loose or corroded terminal (and, I guess burnt terminal) can stop current flowing. For future reference, always connect the POSITIVE terminal first, clamping it down before attaching the negative. Then any curre...
