Re: Brakes & Suspension

I assume that by "Landrover master cylinder" you mean Freelander 1?

Re: 216 16v se cabriolet

I'd agree with him - apart from the badly designed inlet manifold gasket.

After the K got stretched to 1.6 and 1.8 they weren't a patch on the originals

Re: How many of our cars will survive?

I would be interested to know how many MGC and MGC GT remain usable. There were only 9000 built between 1967 and 1969 and for many years they were deeply unloved. I've had mine for over half of its life (and mine :) ) and used it for half that time, on and off.

Re: Starter motor

I bought a high torque starter motor for my MGC - it spins the engine over faster than the original design. Not cheap at about £175 but well worth it

Re: Engine won't start

I don't see rotor arm on your list of things that have been changed. They are a surprisingly frequent cause of ignition problems - and are cheap to replace

Re: The Up side of Lockdown

I've come up with a great money saving scheme. When I go to work, I like to use my Chevrolet Lumina because I get 30 miles per gallon. However, now that we are not going to work, I've decided to not go to work in my V8 Jeep and because that only does 15mpg I'm going to save twice as much money as if...

Re: Rover 216 SE starting issues

If it IS a Honda engine, then the obvious starting point (sorry) is inspecting the inside of the main relay unit for broken solder joints and resoldering them.

Actually, it's worth resoldering them all anyway

Re: Rover Tahiti Blue

Is the Halfords paint any good. My local Halfords didn't have any when I checked although they did have the gap on the shelf. The lady behind the till said they would be able to get some ordered in for me but didn't seem too sure. (She gave me distinctive 'new employee' vibes). If their paint is go...

My car is a 1.4 so I think it has the R65 box, rimmers list a complete PRT kit so I was hoping it was a simple bolt on job
As its a very late car, it wouldn't surprise me if it had the Ford box that was in use late on, rather than the Peugeot R65.
