Putting £ in

So who has put more money into a Rover than it’s worth simply because you love them, knowing full well you won’t get it back?!

Re: my cabriolet

The original post is nearly 3 years old. The car is no longer taxed or MOT’d and is not on a SORN.

Re: New member in Wilts

Both cars sound great. I love 600s too. We do have at least one member in and around Swindon (Hammond, aka Steve).

Re: Car Recovery Assistance Required

Just been looking at How Many Left in response to a FB post, and noted there are only 6 SEi’s taxed that were registered in 1996, compared to 117 that were registered in 1995. Mine is one of the 1996 ones (registered 29/2/1996, leap year!) so I guess this makes it one of the last SEi’s registered an...

As far as I’m concerned the mileage denotes the reason the change the gasket, all the other symptoms are just fuel to the fire.

Better to do it now while it’s easy to clean than when all pipes are full of mayo.
Cheers mate. It’s going to need some time and money putting into it.

Is that a part that should have been swapped if it has been done?

Re: 214 SEi HGF?

Is the any history or sign off the head having been done in the past. If so a good coolant flush and cleanout might have been missed and could be all it needs. Good point Kevin, could just be a flush. The service booked is marked up to about 35,000 miles, and it’s on 49k now, and was advised it was...

That colour with trim & wheels is a contemporary look. I do like the early colour/trim combinations which seem to be fitting but that should turn out to be a very attractive car...
I’m looking forward to getting stuck in with it :)

214 SEi HGF?

So this 214 SEi I bought unseen.... it’s a lovely car but there’s oil in the header tank. The oil is clean, and there’s no mayo under the oil cap. However there was a smidgen of mayo under the coolant cap, and there is a layer of oil on top of the coolant in the header tank. Is this forced to be he ...

Re: Car Recovery Assistance Required

It’s arrived and it’s a 214 SEi in charcoal, which has come all the way from Chertsey to sunny Wakefield. 49k on the clock. Solid car, needs a few things doing to it, little bit of lacquer peel on one panel, couple of other bits and bobs. Nice project for when we get some nice weather. Will probably...

Re: 1994 Rover 220 GSi - Project (of sorts)

I love my 420.... brilliant engine. Fuel wise I don’t find it too bad. As I do a lot of shows in it, they’re often on a long run and I can get 300 miles out of a full tank with the motorway driving, sometimes more. I also use it locally occasionally for pottering around town in and I definitely get ...

Re: Car Recovery Assistance Required

I’ve used Shiply 10-11 times now with only one car having an issue which had come from Switzerland for full resto and some how they managed to nearly rip the front bumper off. Sounds like it’s been mainly a good experience! Just had notification that car will be picked up tomorrow morning so hopefu...

Re: Car Recovery Assistance Required

It’s 198 miles from my house to the seller’s. I had quotes ranging from £210 to £324. I paid £213 in the end.

If the car turns up as planned tomorrow I’ll be singing their praises, but the experience with Shiply has been good so far.
