Re: Valuation help requested for legal purposes

Tbh, I think me and Hammond pretty much covered all bases from scrap value to restoration costs.

The chances of any offer going over £300 is slim when you can buy near mint cars for £550.

Re: my cabriolet

Wonder if they’re fitting the cam seals the correct way around-if they’re not fitted with the correct rotation in the correct positions, they’ll leak badly. Get them to use genuine seals too-I’ve found aftermarket ones are rubbish and quite often don’t have the little raised rubber lines in them to...

Re: Valuation help requested for legal purposes

To someone who needs a parts car in that colour you might get more but 150-300 tops. Negatives: Needs recommissioning so all belts, water pump, thermostat fuel pump at the bare minimum Welding work required is not for the faint hearted. No mot and a lot of money before it could even attempt one. Pos...

Re: 214 SEi HGF?

As far as I’m concerned the mileage denotes the reason the change the gasket, all the other symptoms are just fuel to the fire.

Better to do it now while it’s easy to clean than when all pipes are full of mayo.

Explosion is pressuring of the coolant system.
Mayo oil n water mixing obvious.

Re: Car Recovery Assistance Required

I’ve used Shiply 10-11 times now with only one car having an issue which had come from Switzerland for full resto and some how they managed to nearly rip the front bumper off.

Ball park is usually £1 per mile but depending on the jobs the courier has, sometimes it’s cheaper.

Re: ROVER 214 CABBIE FAILED EMISSIONS

I would have said cat and lambda but as these are already completed I would consider a part top end rebuild. My reason for that is your car is (at a guess) around 20 years old and has probably never had it done. So all the o-rings will be old and hard, the inlet gasket will probably be fit for nothi...
