Re: Need a new windshield

Sometimes, you can drill a hole in the end of the crack to stop it spreading. It's not a long term fix, but it might help it not get worse in the short term. Pilkingtons is the only company I can think of that might be able to help, they're not always hugely expensive.

Re: r8 headlight conversion

Morettes is the word you're after. You can make your own, but it's not easy. The structural side of it is, as these things go, straight forward enough since you can buy good modern generic headlights from any number of kit car outlets that are fit for purpose. The difficult bit is making the nice co...

Re: The Old Lady

Amazingly, the arch on the orange wing was in really good shape. These are terrible for rotting out usually, so I was happy I only had to weld up a few trim holes from the factory chrome arch trim that won't be going back on. So with that ready to go it was a case of getting some fresh paint on the ...

Re: The Old Lady

I've been driving this every day, pretty much, and it's been keeping me from sorting the Rover out since it needs considerably more time spent to get the last of the welding done before I move house later this year. I decided the Rover can wait in the meantime since the work on that is less involved...

Re: Little Purple Austin

To draw a line under this one, I've now agreed to sale and it'll be off to pastures new in a few weeks. Someone has been hoarding brave pills and decided this will be their first restoration project. They'll certainly know how to weld by the end of it! Should be a rewarding project for them all the ...

If there's a sweepstake running, place your bets now on whether or not I manage to remember to turn up.

Re: 1994 414Sli

It's a very different car, that's for sure. Not much to show for the last few months, been off the road waiting for some attention and a fresh MoT while I use the Princess instead. I should be back on it again in June.

Re: 1994 Rover 414Sli

I've been rather distracted by the Princess and having that as my daily for a while so the Rover got somewhat neglected. As a result, it flattened its battery and then refused to talk to the keyfob when trying to jump start the car with said Princess. Took the battery off, recharged it and left the ...

Lots of really good progress in here, that engine bay is looking nice and clean and tidy.

Re: 1994 Rover 414Sli

You're probably wondering what's happening in here. Nothing. That's what. Two reasons, the first being repairing the rot on the Princess' front wing and driver's door, a job that got rather more involved than intended. The other reason is that I wanted to stagger the MoT dates of the Rover and Princ...

Re: The Old Lady

Been a while since I updated here. Since the MoT I've just been using the Princess pretty much every day while the Rover waits its turn. There hasn't been space at the unit to get on with the Rover interior swap and upgrade so I've been focusing on anything else I can do instead. The blowing fuse is...

Re: The Old Lady

MoT's are always a bit scary, especially when it's an older car and one that you've decided to rely on as a daily as I have with this one. I couldn't really find anything amiss so I got in the car to set off in convoy with Mike only to find the dash-mounted cigarette lighter won't power the sat nav,...

Re: Little Purple Austin

Princess got sorted and has been used daily since. MoT later this week on that one. Some 1100 news in the meantime... First, the good news. https://youtu.be/_ezN6sHa4r8 That's Mike sniggering behind the camera. If you're wondering, the clutch is a bit stuck on at the moment so driving it around the ...
