Re: 416 not starting

Not this one. This is not the ignitor. The ignitor is a slim inch square which screws to the inside of the dissy body on the front lower corner with a screw and some electrical paste to help it cool. the item you have here is at the top of the dissy assembly and never seems to be an issue - did not ...

Re: windscreen wiper intermitten relay

no just the rear separate one in the front os footwell which from memory is green as well but it may be yellow. Sure that it is green there are yellow there as well. This one just does the rear wiper - I used to collect this relay as every scrap car I found was relieved as I was using them about eve...

Re: windscreen wiper intermitten relay

Green relay behind or below the OS rear light cluster - gets wet when left hanging but should be bolted to the light cluster fixing and up the right way. Guaranteed to be the issue but thought it would not work at all - however there is a green relay box at this location which is related and I am no...

Re: 1990 Rover 416 gsi starting problems from hot

Good to hear some one else with a mileage that might actually beat ours 243K currently. Do not carry a spare relay at all - have one but not in car. Only carry an igniter unit. If this blows you are not going anywhere and not sure the RAC guys carry one anymore - used to be the only item they did wh...

Re: Electric sunroof for 416 converted to manual

Following on from my electric sunroof issued - my roof was still open as I carried the emergency key from the boot with me inside the car - too often it would open and then not shut. It would manually wind shut quite easily with this key - not pretty but perfectly easy. Also discovered that a hex bi...

Re: Electric sunroof for 416 converted to manual

Having been at this recently I am pretty certain that a complete sunroof unit should have the blue control box attached to the sunroof assembly on the drivers side corner so only needs the feed up the windscreen pillar. I had to change this on my car as it was blown and took one off a spare sunroof ...

Re: R8 Art - now with Tourer

I like these too Red one over Grey for me but a 5 door saloon with the early wheel trims looks good to me - assume that these will swap over or will perhaps hopefully become a variant. Nice T shirt item I feel?

Re: Rover R750 Radio Code

You should be able to get the code reset - the radios are that old now no one is going to think they are nicked. I had a chap in Nuneaton do one for me a while ago and he actually made the code disappear some how but cannot find him again now. But it is possible.

Re: 216 Fuel tank replacement

So far my epoxy stick has done the trick. Painted tank after leaving it propped up to get enough petrol over the leaking area and nothing to show. So took the risk of painting it too - not quite to Johnny GSi standards I am afraid but old repaired tank now due to go back in when I get to it.

Re: R8 Art

Think you have some nice work and would be interested in a R8 shirt - specially if its a red over grey 216 - being selfish! However surely you have to cover the 5 door, 3 door, coupe, and 400 similar to the club logo at a guess. Certainly I think that the Red over Grey seems to suit the cars but the...

Re: 216 Fuel tank replacement

My tank is not from Rimmers but from Car panels Doncaster. Was aware of the pump issues but when I compared the two tanks there appears to be no difference externally. The bolts for the pump orientation seem to measure exactly the same when measured from the same fixed point. Have not checked the in...

Re: 216 Fuel tank replacement

Sadly mine will not look like that either but its impressive. Managed to get the right type of hose clips off ebay so sorted in this direction. Will update if the epoxy putty works. Will save using up my spare new tank for a bit hopefully.

216 Fuel tank replacement

Have a weep of fuel on the back NS corner of the fuel tank - is this where they all seem to go? Mine does not really owe me anything after 245K miles. Managed to get the tank down today - much to my surprise managed to get the tank strap bolts undone after rotary wire brushing the threads and coatin...

Re: Rover 416 SLI Loosing water and running ruff??

Erratic idle and general consumption can be air filter issues - once had a car fail to start as air filter had slipped under the radar and was blocked. Can also affect idle and make it bit jumpy. Similarly old worn plugs or plugs that have a slight oil leak in the seal half way down the plug tube - ...

Re: Rover 416 SLI Loosing water and running ruff??

Afraid I try to change the cambelt every two years and would not let them go past about 35 or 40K. I do not always change the water pump - rarely and do not always change the cam tension roller - very rarely but do not trust the belts. However the more recent car of ours (the spares wreck!) seemed t...
