214 Starter Motor Differences?

Can anyone tell me if all R8 214 starter motors are the same? I've seen Marelli and Lucas ones on ebay but they look the same. Also, are they the same as R3 214/25? I'm still mulling over taking that free 200 SE but it sounds like it needs a new starter and I've never had to change one before. Thanks

My first thought is "no" as the two are based on very different platforms. However, i have no direct experience

Re: Cambelt snapped

I think you'd need the engine running faster than that to build compression, even on a healthy engine

Good news, off memory i'm sure the honda engine isn't an impact engine so should just be a case of new belt away you go.
It's certainly worth the cost of the belt to give it a go

So, was there ever an interior leather option for the 200/400 series then?
We had a 1994 414SLi with full leather interior (including the inserts on the door cards). However, it was a LHD Saudi Arabian spec model with aircon :)

Just use enough to hold it -it won't require much

Re: Wooden Gear Knob

If sticking a push fit gear knob on a screw fitting, you my find that the push fit one is tight enough to cut its own thread as you turn it.

Alternatively, I'd be thinking of Araldite epoxy or even the dreaded (but only semi-permanent) silicon sealant

Re: Rover 216 died

I’d try a different known good battery first :) Good advice. Also, even a very slightly loose or corroded terminal (and, I guess burnt terminal) can stop current flowing. For future reference, always connect the POSITIVE terminal first, clamping it down before attaching the negative. Then any curre...

Re: Rough Idle

Taking it on the road, warming it thoroughly and then running the revs close to the red line for a good while to blow accumulated soot and gunk out of the engine, exhaust, catalytic convertor etc.

Re: rover 216 gti twin cam honda engine 5 door

There is a difference between low average mileage, (total mileage divided by age) and low mileage which means, well, low mileage! Very few cars will do 10-12k miles per year consistently past say 10 or 12 years as they tend to change ownership and different owners use cars to a differing extent. Ol...

Re: FS eBay: 200 Cab Backlight Assembley

When ours cracked about 10 years back, I bought some of the correct heavy duty plastic, removed the window from the car and replaced the plastic. It took some work to sew it all back together but I was pretty pleased with the result. Total cost was about 35 quid

It's the car that Rover should have built - after all the R3 had the L series (so it MUST fit the R8)
