Mentioned this to the Rover garage and they suggested the gauge was a "guide" and that if the engine/fan etc was doing what it was supposed to be doing, then not to worry. As long as it's not going right up into the red! (Which it isn't). Incidentally I have two SEi's and the fuel consumption on bot...

The Rover garage I use seem to have got to the bottom of this. Their first thoughts were dizzy cap and rotor arm, and they didn't think it was a temp sensor issue. They did a full engine diagnostic check and found no issues. I got them to change the dizzy cam and rotor arm anyway, and I put new plug...

Now that's a good suggestion! I'll pull it out and see what happens

Body Shop Recommendation?

Can anyone recommend a decent body shop in Bradford or Wakefield or nearby? I used a place in Wakefield called Jessops about 15 months ago, and got a wheel arch and door tidied up and resprayed due to rust, but it is coming back through. I am disappointed as I thought the work would be a "permanent ...

Long Afternoon

This afternoon, decided to check the condition of my spark plugs due to a couple of running issues. Removed the first HT lead and the plastic cover attached the the lead came off the plug, but the rubber sleeve stayed in the block on the plug. Managed to pull out the rubber sleeve but could not get ...

Thanks for the reply. The temp gauge rarely gets above "quarter to". Even when the fan kicks in if I'm stuck in a traffic jam, the reading is low. The engine seems to be doing everything it should be, but the gauge is reading low. I'll mention to the Rover garage I use and get them to confirm your t...

Temp Gauge

Hi all, The temp gauge on my red 214SEi usually reads at the "twenty-five to" mark, whereas all my other past & present 214s have all had their temp gauge at "quarter to" during normal driving conditions. What is causing the low reading and how is this rectified? And what problems, if any, can this ...

M&G Rover specialists in Bradford

I have recently started to use M&G Rover as it is closer to where I work. (Wakefield Rd, Bradford) I found them on the Good Garage Scheme website. Just had a full comprehensive service (including coolant change) and replacement cam belt on one of my 214SEis for £250. http://www.goodgaragescheme.co.u...
