214 Si 3-door, low miles, BRG, 5-spoke alloys

#1 Post by 220 GSi turbo » Mon Sep 19, 2016 10:53 pm

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/rover-214-exc ... 2128968621

'Sold' for £870 by auction a just over a week ago, now 'relisted due to total timewaster' at a fixed price of £1495.

It is from the time when Rover were promoting the 3-door Si as an insurance-friendly sporting version (despite the unexciting interior trim): hence the rear lip spoiler and front splitter. The alloy wheels would have been a dealer-fit, though. This version only lasted a few months before the SEi replaced it.

Quite rare then Paul - I didn't realise these versions were available just before the SEi.

By the way if anyone is interested, Barnsley is 20 mins from me, so if anyone wants me to check it out before travelling further just let me know.

This was on my spreadsheet of possible buys before I got the SEi but the price was above my budget.

It's up again after the previous sale at £870 didn't complete. Seller's invested in a drive up the hill and another photoshoot!

I've got to say it's a good one that.

12 bidders took it to £770 this time. Final bid within the last minute.

We'll have to hope it has gone to a caring new owner.

Otherwise many of us will regret not taking advantage of a cheap way of getting a nice set of 5-spoke alloys :wink3

Given the 5-spoke GTi alloys, this is undoubtedly the same car

Mot history has no mention of corrosion issues.

Leeds is my neck of the woods so if anyone wants a viewing doing, let me know and I’d be happy to do it.

Oh and it’s an Si with electric windows and electric sunroof? Is that unusual? Nice car anyway!

Is that concluded from a forensic examination of the hockey sticks?

:wink3

I've been considering that one, but I don't have a decent interior to put in it so not a good 'fit' with the rest of my collection!

Interior aside, it's a nice looking car, especially with the addition of the alloys.

Its interesting that its only done about 140 miles in eighteen months. Is it really that precious that you wouldn't use it for a few Sundays out?

Also why is the grille not original (too new for the year?)
1995 416 SLi (Ostensibly BRG) - on the road
1998 VW Polo 1.9D CL (purple) - on the road
2006 Ford Transit (white, what else) - on the road
1972 Mercedes 350 SL (red) - not on the road
1998 Audi Cabriolet (maroon) - not on the road
