Brake pipe different size fittings

#1 Post by Vinny1979 » Sat Apr 13, 2019 11:26 am

So gone to look at my new master cylinder and I have noticed that the rover 220 fitting that goes into the master cylinder is bigger than the holes on the 300 tdi master cylinder,
what do I do?

2 choices. Either cut off the 220 fitting, get the correct sized fitting for the 300 master cylinder and re-make the brake pipe with the new sized fitting or see if you can get an adapter that will fit both the master cylinder and your existing union. Probably the easiest would be to simply saw off the flare of the existing pipe, swap the fitting for one of the correct size and re-flare the pipe. Brake pipe flaring kits are not that expensive if you have to buy one and are endlessly useful for all your brake pipe needs :D

There is a guy in town who will do the two lines for about £20

I have got them remvoed now, took a bit but the shape is pretty much there.

Would have been easier with the engine out :laughing2

Got these fitted guys

The fittings were m10 and m12

I have ran 2 new lines from the land rover 300 tdi master cylinder to the abs modulator

hoping this has cured my issue of not being able to bleed brakes

for anyone interested it cost me £15 delivered for two lengths of 64" brake line which is ideal for the job

it was a pain to do in situ but looks very neat imo

more to follow
