Cooling fans running all the time

#1 Post by RoverTD » Thu Feb 06, 2020 4:10 pm

I have just noted that on y 2003 Rover 45 Diesel when I switch on the ignition, before actually starting the engine for the first time, the cooling fans start running even though this morning it was only 2 degrees C. On starting the engine , they carried on running, surely they should stay off until required ?

Its on the metal elbow that is bolted to the engine block, right side near airbox.

Just pick one of the above which looks like the one fitted

Looking at RAVE and Rimmers site , it looks to me to be ERR2081 for L series Diesel. Does that seem right?

I believe I have solved it. It would appear that having the aircon on, actives the fans even with the engine off, but ignition on. Switched off the aircon and fans stopped.

Yes, the fan stays on if the A/C is switched on. I believe that is the case on most cars.

It dries the air and gives better screen demisting
