Pressure release valve on Honda steering rack

#1 Post by MGZRreplica » Thu Mar 12, 2020 3:44 pm

My steering is really light on my 1.6 Honda
Fitted to a j-plate r8. I spoke to John at the coupe AGM he suggested it might be the spring
Has gone inside.
The mechanic wants to know where the pressure release valve is on the steering rack?
Thanks for your time.

It’s a none serviceable part I’m afraid.

Time for a new rack.

He's right.

The failure mode is the fracture of a small C-spring inside the steering gear.

Does this only applie to honda type cars or is it all R8s ? I did sell one of a K series to someone who had honda 1.6 and he made it fit , pipe work etc

All R8s. The basic rack is identical but the short metal ram-feed pipes type it to an engine. Therefore you can convert a K to a D and give versa
