#1 Post by Xtrmjks » Sat Aug 29, 2020 8:13 am

Hi, anyone have a list of what is the minimal number of wires, to get 1.4 8v rover engine running? Using one of these in a kit car..
Thanks

1.4 8? You sure it's not a later MEMs 3 engine

1.4 8valve engines were available with MEMS 1.9 as I have one ioriginaly n my car, and I am not sure if they were available with MEMS 1.6.

No idea what version MEMS it has. Engine code is 14K2FK43.

It’s ecu, with separate black box (rover immobiliser?), this has been bypassed, as fuel pump primes and ecu is “alive”?

Just checked, ecu is Rover M.E.M.S, mkc103400, crank sensor has ac voltage to ecu plug. No spark..

That is MEMS 1.9 from Rover 114 GSi 1.4 litre engine.

So what's the problem you have no spark?

Yes, no spark. Wiring checked, coil checked. Fuel pump primes, have fuel pressure, coil has feed, ecu not switching the coil.

Just read about “ecu vacuum connector”, does that need to be connected??

Yes that's for the map sensor but you'll still have spark. Are the injectors pulsing when cracking?

Would seem a bit odd if the ECU was, by design, injecting fuel without also asking for a corresponding spark. Wouldn't improve the emissions figures!

Had a look, injectors are not firing. Plugs are dry.
