Morning all!.
Today I'm going to attemp to change my gearbox end shaft seals.
I'm waiting on their delivery and providing all goes well and this annoying rain decides to back off they should be straight forward.
I will try and get photos in case this may be of use for anyone wanting to do theirs.
Before I trot off to my local motor factors , is there a recommended gear oil and what the viscosity is?

Re: Drive shaft/gearbox seal replacement
I don't know the required type, but to make sure I get the correct oil, I simply walked to a Peugeot dealer and bought a can of oil for a manual 205... It was also quite a bit cheaper than the gear-oils on offer in local stores :-)

Hi threelitre , took a walk down to local motor factors, picked up 1L gear oil 75/80 .
£4.99 each! , nearest garage was selling the same stuff at nearly a tenner a litre! Talk about rip off!
Anyway....
I did swap the gearbox around, in the rain! Not fun I can say, and after much mucking around and literally getting pools of water where we had to wok to do the job , everything went back together relatively easily on the second day.
After replacing the seals ,and topping up with oil , all is well.

Sorry for the lack of images, but there was no way I was using my camera in such poor conditions.
