Hi everyone I'm based in the northeast and even though I've had my 214 for around 9 years I hadn't realised there was a forum for them.
Whilst my 214 is a nice tidy used example I thought it was time to reduce my fleet as I have too many classic cars so I stuck it on ebay for a cheap price ( it does have a long test) and got no interest the first time, relisted it and it sold for £505 the second time only for the lovely genuine chap not to be able to keep the car due to family reasons so within less than a day I had it back with no change of keeper on the log book.
Now my problem is, is it worth me doing the cosmetic bits of paint work done, stone chipped bonnet and a few rust spots if the car isn't going to re coupe that money if I did sell it or should I just run it for the rest of this year as it is then just take it to the scrappy if no one wants a standard 214 sli. Have a look at completed listings on ebay just from the last couple of days and let me know what you guys think. Its a nightfire red M reg.

Sounds like you got a good price for it, shame it came back :laughing2
Not sure even by doing the little bits you will get more than that for it being it's a standard SLi but you never know.

Best suggestion I can make is that you go to a couple of our North East meets this year if you get time: not suggesting you will have a queue of eager buyers, but it gets the car more well-known and if somebody 'down south' was interested in it they may appreciate a good honest description from a couple of our members who will have seen the car.

I doubt you will end up needing to scrap it: nearly every car will find a new home if the price is right :)

Hi thanks for the suggestions, I'm not desperate to sell it, one teeside member on here that I'm very good friends with knows the car.
I think I just got a bit sick of ebay clowns. I'll probably just keep it anyway, I did have it on the 200 club stand at Peterborough last August. There doesn't seem to be many 214 sli's about anymore. I'll keep an eye out for north east meets aswell, just depends if I can fit them in around work plus I normally use older cars for car shows.

'Mere' SLi or no, it still looks a classy motor though! Isn't that what matters?

Hello mate. It's good to see you on here. All I can say is theses cars can only go up in value just like the Morris Marina . I can remember being able to pick a marina up with mot for £100 . It would be good to see you at one of our area meetings.

Hi mate, yes you'll have to let me know when and where and I'll see if I can fit them in. True you used to be able to pick these up for £100 in the local free adds until a few years ago. I'll just keep using this one, I never had the intention of turning it into a show car that I couldn't leave outside work.
