Hello from Bristol

#1 Post by markc » Sun Aug 24, 2014 11:09 am

Hi all,

I am Mark and I have owned a 216 Cabriolet since September 2013.

She has had a bit of a hard life, has been very neglected and was left rotting when I found it. The interior was just caked in mould so when I got it I gave it a good clean, lots of staining though, however I am very slowly nursing it back to good health.

The work carried out so far (with a friends help) is:
Front exhaust section
Catalytic Converter
Middle exhaust section
Rear back box exhaust section
2 x rear brake cylinders
2 x ball joint boots
New Spark Plugs
New Lambda Sensor
New fuel filter
New air filter
New exhaust manifold gasket - I think that's it.

Still need to finish the other servicing bits (oil, coolant etc) the biggest job will be the roof, it may even need a new frame :(

But the fun stuff so far:
New radio - sorry its not original :(
New sun visors

I'm quite new at this whole car work thing, I've always done tinkering on the inside but this is the first time I am trying to work on bits and bobs on the outside. I am very lucky that I have a friend whos got tools and space to help me work on it, but its a slow process.

I'm hoping to do right by everyone and bring this car back to its former glory :) See ya round!

27th September, it's a Saturday, we meet at 12.00pm for lunch at 12.30pm.

If you don't know the area from Bristol on the A37 drive through Shepton, keeping on the A37, until you come to the round about take the right turn, go a few yards and take the 1st left, about 100yds you come to a U bend take the left on it and then right into the pubs carpark.

You definitely are !

ebay is a good source of hoods and frames - fitting isn't the easiest job though but I'm pretty sure there'll be some guidance already on this forum.

See you on the 21st Sept ? ( http://www.rover200.org.uk/forums/viewt ... f=7&t=7593 )

Welcome. I live in Long Ashton, so not far from Nailsea.

Good to see some enthusiasts from Bristol.
