214i Sprint - "Gladys"
Hello. Joined here a couple of months ago. I have a 1993 214i Sprint that my Mum bought new and I took over about ten years ago. Ashamed to say I neglected her a bit, but she turned 25 in March so I've been giving her a bit of a makeover.
Mechanically she's sound, but I had the engine fully serviced and flushed out. I'm no petrol head so most of the work has been done professionally, costing me a few quid to boot.
There were a few rusty bits which I've had treated and resprayed. Got a set of nice alloys from eBay and had new tyres fitted. Gave her a good wash and wax myself (four hours that took) but she's soon to be booked in for a full valet, including steam clean inside and the engine bay.
I am quite proud of myself that I took out the wood trim, sanded off the old, flaking varnish and re-varnished it. Came up a treat.
The last thing I need to do is get the headlining stuck back to the roof. Was going to remove the light unit, spray the glue inside and push the lining towards the middle. Or has anyone got a better idea?
I also have some pictures to post but don't know how. I've uploaded them to Flikr, which I saw a couple of other members use, so if anyone can advise that would be great.
I'm going to try one below to see if it works

Great to see all the pictures and the work you’ve done. Be awesome if we had more posts like this, as I’m new to R8 ownership and car renovation so it’s very motivational to see others work.
The body shop you’ve used have done a fantastic job of repairing what was quite bad corrosion. Particularly like the new alloys that the replace the non-standard wheel trims.
Also loving your reveneering (if that’s the right word) of the wood.
Wouldn’t know where to start with the headlining though, sorry. Fortunately mines fine (and hope it stays that way too)
Great work

To 1234dist - how do you embed photos?
To JOHNDQ - Yeah, I’ve been following your one. Looks like it’s going well. I couldn’t rip Gladys apart though.
To Coity - thanks for your comments

You can't. All you can do is post links then pray to the Chapel of Dist. If he deems your prayers worthy, 1234Dist waves his omnipotent mouse and miraculously, they appear on the forum

In all seriousness, the forum seems to be locked for direct posting of photos (probably to stop unwanted /inappropriate spam photo posts), except for a select few (it's usually Dist who does it). Everyone else has to upload pics to hosting sites and then post links. Then they can be vetted to ensure they are "appropriate" photos and added to the forum.

Be nice to see John's sprint next to yours once he has finished playing with it and see the difference.

Re: 214i Sprint - "Gladys"
I forgot to mention... Had a new stereo and speakers fitted. DAB and Bluetooth so can listen to Absolute 80's and do hands free calls. The old speakers were the originals and well past their use by date. New kit sounds great but not the. BOOM BOOM bass of a boy racer
